It's a surprise the game came out, but it's even more shocking that it's damn good to boot. Hope it sticks around, it's got potential.
I played this game WAAAAAAAY back when it was first under NDA and even back then I hoped it would succeed. It's quaint for a MOBA and has plenty of potential for growth. I also got to talk to some of the devs and they were super nice!
What an amazing story. The fact that the studio's employees came back despite being laid off goes to show just how much they believed in the game. It's because of that determination that Gigantic's out at all, and I'm grateful for it. I just hope it gets the attention it deserves.
you guys make it sound good but ive grown to hate the ever living fuck out of the MOBA genre
This is a really touching story of passionate devs. Totally downloading it to try it out with some friends!
you guys make it sound good but ive grown to hate the ever living fuck out of the MOBA genre
To be fair to the game, it's barely a MOBA. It's a MOBA in the sense that your character levels up through the match and you upgrade abilities and talents, but there are no creeps or even items.
you guys make it sound good but ive grown to hate the ever living fuck out of the MOBA genre
It's closer to an objective-based shooter than a MOBA.
I never tought i would say this, but, this is moba i've actually would like to try out. I never liked RTS like controlled mobas.
There is this, Paragon, and Smite for more actiony style MOBAs, though Smite and Paragon are a fair bit more complex than this. Also matches in this can go super quick if you know what you're doing.

After playing this game for a couple hours, I come to the conclusion that it is too good to succeed. Games like these need to be bad like CS:GO or Dota 2 to sustain a long term community. This game however has quality, and, most importantly, some new ideas that will go against the grain of MOBA player's need for shit games. [editline]22nd July 2017[/editline] Yeah, after a couple more hours, Gigantic lacks the lengthy moments of boredom and monotony that a moba-type game requires to be successful.

I like Gigantic but I also like Dota 2 for ENTIRELY DIFFERENT reasons.
you guys make it sound good but ive grown to hate the ever living fuck out of the MOBA genre
Mmhm. It really doesn't matter how passionate the devs are. The playerbase that MOBAs attract show a level of toxicity that would make serial killers recoil in shock. I like Gigantic but I also like Dota 2 for ENTIRELY DIFFERENT reasons.
The two concepts aren't mutually exclusive. I can fully acknowledge that games like League, Smite, Dota 2 are well crafted and still think they're a cancerous blight on gaming's left buttock that needs chemo'd away. And they're cancerous because of something entirely out of the dev's control: Player toxicity. I can't think of a game genre with a playerbase more toxic, more hostile.

Can't really figure out where there'd be boredom in either of those games unless you spend all your time dead or slowly moving back up lanes after dying.
