I'm going to buy an HTC Desire with the latest Android 2.2 Froyo and I would like some tips and tricks and some nice apps which I could download.
Do I need an Case for my Desire?
Do I need an Screen protector?
Get a screen protector, you wont even notice it's there. I don't use a case because I like the feel of phones without them. If you're careful enough you'll find it wont scratch unless you drop it, and after a couple of months you care less than when you first get it. If you are really paranoid, you could get one. I did, then stopped using it after a couple of weeks.
But definitely a screen protector.

Do you know any good Screen protector's?
I'll just tell you my one thought on the HTC Desire really fast.
Amazing screen, truly gorgeous.
Great UI, smooth as an iPhone and with all the great Android features.
Fast.
No need for a case, the back is like a matte plasticy rubbery thing, won't scratch and is great for grip.
The one I have tried (which ain't mine, but my stepdads that bastard), doesn't have a screen protector and honestly works just fine without it AFAIK.
If the screen gets greasy it's real easy to wipe clean too.

Also there is not supposed to be an apostrophe before that S.
As far as screen protectors go, you have a lot of options. Picked up one of these for my Zune HD and I am very pleased with it.

I didn't think froyo was out for the desire till later on this year?
If I'm wrong, send me a link :)

It's the case I have, keeps it safe etc :)
You should get a case, because it is still at risk from damage from general shock of a fall. Once you drop it you will thank yourself for getting a good case. I recommend a look through here, my favourites are the PDair cases: http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/53943-htc-desire-cases.html
Make sure you don't get a case that closes via a magnetic catch, it will fuck the compass and accelerometer up.

The official one isn't out, it was rumoured to be coming out soon, but I've not really heard anything about it.
There is a ROM out for it which was pretty good last I heard, I've not tried it myself yet though.
My mate uses Froyo on his Desire. He has no complaints so far

No idea whose ROM he uses though
Well I've heard that Froyo comes out for the Desire on the 23rd July.
@ Bhazard I know that forum I looked into it a bit before.
I'm not really fan of magnetic catch closes.
I would like case that's also comfortable in the pockets. I don't really want a hard pouch case something that is soft and simple I liked the little bag I saw on their forum http://www.fommy.co.uk/view-full-page.asp?divid=Google&cat=Cases&skuno=82280
Btw what do you think about those rubber cases are they ok?
