I recently transferred from a GTX 260 to two 4890s in a Crossfire configuration and I've been having problems ever since.
I have a Samsung 22" monitor which I know for a fact can support a maximum of 2304x1440, however, by default, the maximum reported resolution is a measly 1680x1050, and this was easily remedied by going into the NVIDIA control panel and setting a custom forced resolution of 2304x1440. It worked perfectly and looked great. Now, after switching to the ATI setup, I hadn't bothered with it.
I figured that today I would fix it, and so far all I've been able to do is force 1920x1080 which isn't even the same aspect ratio. I tried Power Strip with no luck at all. All it does when I force 1920x1080 is, well, lets say you take a screenshot of someone's 1080p monitor, and then try to view it at 100% full screen on my monitor with the resolution set to 1680x1050. A bunch of shit is cut off and it is impossible to use.
What can I do to force my preferred custom resolution of 2304x1440 (16:10 aspect ratio) and have it so that it scales correctly?
Did you go to desktop properties and set the resolution in catalyst? I remember that you are able to in there some where and then their are option on the right about the scaling.

Also uninstall your monitor driver. I did that once and was able to force my lcd but hp makes it so if you but it to 1920 bu 1080 it tells you it isn't the recommended res so I couldn't use it. :v:

Also what is this power strip you speak of?

What? I right clicked the desktop and went to screen resolution and set it. Scaling is disabled in CCC.

Also, I don't have the monitor driver installed.

In catalyst desktop properties there should be the options for the resolutions but there might be a way to make a custom one.

There is but the thing is that when I set the maximum resolution, it only has a list of predefined resolutions, of which 1080p is the highest. So when I go to make a custom resolution, it won't let me go any higher than 1080p.

And it still does the stretch thing.

Here we go.
Didn't work even after a restart.
2304x1440 is a pretty non-standard resolution... :raise:
Have you tried manually editing the resolution into your xorg.conf and rebooting?

My what?
xorg.conf... your Xserver file that sets your screen resolution.
xorg.conf... your Xserver file that sets your screen resolution.
Could you tell me where it is?
Sure, it's in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Just remember to open it as root so you can save your changes.
CTRL+ALT+Backspace will restart your Xserver without rebooting the PC. It's quite nice.
Is this for Windows 7 or what because I have no idea where that is supposed to be.

And doing a system wide search yields 0 results for xorg.conf.
Oh sorry, I thought you were running Linux. I have no idea for Windows 7. Sorry mate. :frown:
Have you tried unchecking "Hide modes that this monitor cannot dispay"?

That won't work; that only hides refresh rates.
If he hasn't installed the driver, then Windows will assume that he's using a default 4:3, 16:9, or 16:10 monitor. Installing the driver should allow you to select that resolution.

Definately works on xp; maybe it's different in 7 though...
