Hey I'm going to be buying a new computer at some point but would like this build comfirmed/modified to save me money or replace parts with better ones. I want the best I can get for around £800 GPU - https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards+-+GPUs/Graphics+Cards+-+NVIDIA/GeForce+GTX+660/GIGABYTE+WindForce+GeForce+GTX+660+OC+2048MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=52683 CPU - https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Intel+Core+i7-3820+3.60GHz+%28Sandy+Bridge-E%29+Socket+LGA2011+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=48281 Motherboard - https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards+-+Intel/Socket+2011+-+Intel+X79/GIGABYTE+GA-X79-UP4+Intel+X79+%28Socket+2011%29+ATX+Motherboard+?productId=52534 PSU - https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies+-+PSUs/Modular+700-950W/750W+Corsair+TX750+V2+80PLUS+Bronze+Power+Supply+?productId=52957 Sound Card - https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Sound+Cards/Creative+Labs+Sound+Blaster+X-Fi+Xtreme+Audio+-+OEM+?productId=49883 RAM - https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory+-+RAM/DDR3/Quad+Channel+-+%281600MHz%29/16GB+%284x4GB%29+Corsair+Vengeance+Jet+Black+1600MHz+CL9+DDR3+Dual%2FQuad+Channel+Kit+%5BCMZ16GX3M4A1600C9%5D+?productId=48126 I already have a screen and all that jazz
Here's the standard build you'll see almost everyone recommend: CPU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/29-4intel-core-i5-3570k-s-1155-ivy-bridge-quad-core-34ghz-5-gt-s-dmi-650mhz-gpu-6mb-smart-cache-34x- (179) Mobo: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asrock-z77-extreme-4-intel-z77-s-1155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-(x16)-d-sub-dvi-d-hdmi-a (103) Memory: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-(2x4gb)-corsair-ddr3-vengeance-jet-black-lp-pc3-12800-(1600)-non-ecc-cas-9-9-9-24-xmp-15v (31) PSU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-xfx-xxx-p1-650x-xxb9-hybrid-modular-85-eff-80-plus-bronze-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-quiet-fan-atx-v (74) GPU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-xfx-radeon-hd-7950-double-d-5000mhz-gddr5-gpu-800mhz-dvi-dvi-hdmi-mdp (220) A few questions 1. Do you need an OS? or an HDD? 2. What do you plan on using your pc for?
Well I basically wanted the items I posted but if there are any cheaper but the same performance alternatives for cheaper or a little bit more. DW I've built a pc before just getting a second opinion of what could be changed for what
Well I basically wanted the items I posted but if there are any cheaper but the same performance alternatives for cheaper or a little bit more. DW I've built a pc before just getting a second opinion of what could be changed for what
I recommended alternative pieces that are cheaper, but it's really hard to recommend you parts when you don't tell me what you are planning to use the pc for. I'm not questioning your skill when it comes to building a pc, rather your knowledge of what parts you necessarily need.
Well, playing games. basically
Well, playing games. basically
What kind of games? What settings?
Well, playing games. basically

CPU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/29-4intel-core-i5-3570k-s-1155-ivy-bridge-quad-core-34ghz-5-gt-s-dmi-650mhz-gpu-6mb-smart-cache-34x- (179) Mobo: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asrock-z77-extreme-4-intel-z77-s-1155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-(x16)-d-sub-dvi-d-hdmi-a (103) Memory: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-(2x4gb)-corsair-ddr3-vengeance-jet-black-lp-pc3-12800-(1600)-non-ecc-cas-9-9-9-24-xmp-15v (31) PSU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-xfx-xxx-p1-650x-xxb9-hybrid-modular-85-eff-80-plus-bronze-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-quiet-fan-atx-v (74) GPU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-xfx-radeon-hd-7950-double-d-5000mhz-gddr5-gpu-800mhz-dvi-dvi-hdmi-mdp (220) Total: 607
A couple of things you could add/change if you want to use the entirety of your budget: CPU Cooler: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/cooler-master-hyper-212-evo-4-heat-pipes-direct-contact-with-120mm-quiet-fan-lga775-1155-1156-1366-a (27) Better GPU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-gigabyte-radeon-hd-7970-overclocked-5500mhz-gddr5-1000mhz-dvi-i-hdmi-2x-mini-dp (300) As for the sound card, the mobo has pretty good sound settings already. The only reason to get a soundcard is if you need it because you are creating music or need something better than what the mobo provides. You probably won't tell the difference if your using the pc just for gaming. A couple of other things 1. CPU: The i5 I linked is just as good as the i7 you linked, it just doesn't have hyperthreading which isn't useful in games. It's more used for programs like photoshop, rendering/modeling, etc. 2. Memory: For gaming, 8GB is all you'll ever need and you will most likely never cap that out during the life of your pc. 3. PSU: You won't need more than 650-700W for any gpu/cpu combo these days. Parts are getting really power efficient these days. Hope this helps.
Thanks also, I was looking just for intel/nvidia stuff since I have amd at the moment and don't really want another of their cards. Also I'd rather have 16gb of ram since I do alot of multitasking and would prefer more than I actually need so I can't complain.
I've done this. http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/okB6 I don't need a PSU since I can use the one my main pc has, unless there will be compatability issues? I've got everything else I need such as OS and such.
I really don't get why you are insisting upon an i7 over an i5. There is hardly any difference in performance between the two when they are at the same clock speeds. You could get a much better gpu for the difference in price as well since the GTX 660 really isn't all that great, even at its price point. Again, I'll also mention the memory. You won't use over 8GB of memory playing games, leaving broswers with 100 tabs open, playing music, and running any bloatware all at the same time. It's more or less another waste of money unless you need the memory for some sort demanding program. Also, AMD makes the better cards for the money currently. They clock better, at the base speeds they also perform better than their Nvidia counterparts. There is no reason not to get one unless you need the CUDA cores. Saying you don't want one because you are currently using an ATI card is like saying "I prefer Nvidia, even though I can get a better card at a lower price from another manufacturer." It really boggles my mind. Seriously consider what I'm saying instead of thinking that the i7 is some godly powerhouse of a cpu because the difference in base performance between an i5 and an i7 is next to nothing. The i7 just has a larger second number next to the "i" and hyper threading which games do not even use nor will use for a number of years.
So after reviewing and all that jazz. You do not need 16gb ram even for multitasking 8gb is more than enough 16gb is for like photoshop and video rendering and stuff like that. As for Graphic Card i suggest a Gigabyte 7970 its by far superior to all nvidia card at that price range at the moment but if you insist on a Nvidia card a GTX 660ti is also very good
Better than a GTX 660 ti and at the same price.
wow you get 3 free games with it also
Yep, AMD is running a special until December that gives you 3 free games and 20% off a fourth game with the purchase of a 79XX card.
That looks pretty good then, no issues with compatability at all? Also I just bought fucking Hitman, wow.
I don't want to stop him from buying them, but "better" is kind of defined to what you're doing with the card.
He said games. They are better for playing games.
