1 step forwards 2 steps back eh?
Hang in there.
But this is just like every update.
Maybe the lower fps is also because he disabled multi core rendering.
I was able to launch the game once, but after closing and trying again it wont get past the blue loading screen. I even tried reinstalling it
Turns out my friends are having the same issue after restarting the game
[editline]wha[/editline]
a few source games were waiting for massive updates that required content to be converted(again?) so maybe that'll fix it.
[editline]aaa[/editline]
That fixed it
I remember once upon a time Garry's Mod updates were something to look forward to, now I instinctively come on here to check on what has totally fucked up this time around.

Plenty of incredible things were added in this update. Developers now have access to an awesome AI system that lets you literally spawn a hundred NPCs without latency issues, and also VPK mounting.
I think you can deal with the game being broken for half a day to get some pretty great features.

Indeed Mr. GameDev, there are many great features in this update and I wasn't trying to state otherwise. But it doesn't negate that fact that it shouldn't came out broken to begin with.

Moaning moaning moaning, first people start yelling for the update to arrive and now want to roll back.
We can't give Garry the fault for releasing the update with a few bugs when ½ of the community are rushing him.
Garrysmod got some major changes/features this year and I'm at least thankful for Garry still continuing adding more.
Besides as he say; All the bugs have been on the SVN for a month and a half ...

If anything this means there's a need for more betatesting volunteers with basic knowledge in coding.

Yes, instead of people moaning about the bugs, they should have tested the SVN version first and informed Garry.
The fact that nearly no one test the new content (Portal 2/CS:GO) is kinda shocking.

Maybe some sort of (small) reward system as a incentive to get players helping with finding bugs in the SVN version?
Every player that finds a bug, provide some documentation about it (console error/warning snippets, and/or ways to reproduce the bug) or maybe even a solution to said bug gets some sort of small reward.

Whilst I agree that it's fine to expect bugs in gmod updates (due to the nature of the game), I always thought this was a stupid argument. Gmod is now a serious, fully-released, moneymaking game. It should not be the community's responsibility to find bugs.
But, as I said, Gmod is pretty unique in it's format and moddability. Bugs seem pretty unavoidable.
I wasn't even aware there was an SVN, I'll have to check it more often
Also, I'm gonna miss the crouch bug, it's gonna be impossible to play Zombie Survival now that you cant shoot through the openings that are in the space between standing and crouching. I wish Garry could have made it so your third person height would correlate to how high your crouch was, instead of just throwing the whole thing out

It was a bug. Asking me to put a bug back in is stupid. If it's a vital part of the gameplay it will be re-coded as part of the gamemode.

Well bunny hopping and rocket jumping were bugs, but I'll admit the being able to crouch and shoot over boxes while hidden needed to be fixed. I just felt that it was an elegant solution to the problem of not being able to utilize cover without standing straight up, a system which ARMA 3 had to implement a whole system for. As far as recoding it for gamemodes, is it possible to change the height someone shoots at without completely resizing the player?
Edit: Realized that last question was dumb, could just use the render library :p
Since the update, there's a bug that causes most of the weapon-capable NPCs to spawn in a T-pose, all they do is stand there and turn to look at you.
This got me really annoyed because I like to use NPCs alot and now I can only use the few main characters from HL2, the animals, and the zombies and aliens.
I'm hoping that this could be fixed soon, I'm not saying that I want the update to come out faster, just saying that I hope this bug is fixed in the update 162

If you have to make a bug request post a thread here: http://facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=414
Make sure to read the sticky before posting, and this particular bug has already been fixed. Just wait for the next update and it should be in there.

I fixed that in update 162, all anims up to episode 2 will load for HL2 npcs, even if you do not have the episodic games
Out of curiosity Max, will this allow Vortigaunts to use their special attacks used in EP2? Like the splash damage one?
