i had a zune its actually a pretty neat device, it does everything pretty baller but the fucking software is HORRIBLE god damn that shit has been pissing me the fuck off since day 1, and now it won't fucking startup even so after about 3 weeks of trying different steps to get it to work again i have decided it's just a piece of shit and i'm going to abandon it. I think i wanna get a secondhand iPod touch, or pawn this piece of shit and get a iPod classic. What does facepunch think?
Get an iPod Touch instead. It's probably one of the best mobile media player that fits in your pocket you can have.
iPod Touch definitely. Only use of Classic is storage for lots and lots of songs and videos, but the Touch obviously lets you run all sorts of apps, and lets you use the internet. It's really great, buying a Classic just limits yourself. Only problem is that you shouldn't expect a decent life expectancy, as faults will occur over time. I have a iPod Touch 2G (I've owned since December 2008), and I'm at the point of considering buying a new one. WiFi is dodgy, battery life is low (even with brightness at a low, bluetooth and WiFi off) and the screenlock and volume down buttons don't work.
Well, for software I wouldn't do it. HATE FUCKING ITUNES. Itouch thingy is okay, but I would look at some other alternatives aswell. Do a little research before deciding to buy such a device and see which one fits best for your needs quality and price wise.
at least itunes operates as it should. zune software won't even fucking run, and installing it is a bitch. I've owned an ipod touch before, but i'm in my senior year, I've used ipod and other brand mp3 players and I honestly just need something thats about to last me from now, until i'm out of college. Will an iTouch or a classic last me the longest? (factoring in the degrading battery life and general wellness of the product over time)

I've never really had problems with Zune software, but iTunes was a pain in the arse regardless of OS. I'm not sure if you can get third party solutions to sync content to a zune but I know you can for an ipod.
iTunes runs better on my PC than Zune and my Zune won't pick up all my ID3 tags. Just my $0.02
i've tried everything to keep using the zune man its an awesome device, it's just pretty much useless to me now without a way to sync. Also, the new iTunes seems to startup and run 10x faster than before i love using it now.
I still have my iPod 5G Video, and it works. I'd recommend the iPod Classic, you need a tank to break it, while all you need for the touch to break is badly placed hard objects.

Ipod touch, but not the 1st gen, the wifi just breaks down, rendering it half useless.
Basically it sounds like you're looking for a smartphone OS but without the cellphone hardware. [editline]9th September 2011[/editline] If you can get your hands on a Galaxy S Wifi then that's the simplest way to sync music, just drag and drop the mp3 files onto the storage.
I got a 3g iPod nano and its fucking fantastic
get a phone silly
I got my 160GB classic in Jan of 2008, and I love it. Still runs perfectly from the day I bought it, no issues with battery life, and I've dropped it at least 20 times, mostly onto concrete. Sure it's got some dents and scratches, but overall its still running just right. Also I hate iTunes, use foobar, syncs faster anyways.
iTunes does need some work in the syncing category, haven't used Foobar because I CBA to find a skin I like for it.
Seems like I'm the only one in my circle of friends that didn't get the cracked screen feature on my iTouch. Do I need to Jailbreak it or something? Seems like I'm the only one with a screen still in one piece. :saddowns:
I personally would save the money and just learn how to use my Zune.
You're fucking stuff up. I've had 3 Zunes and all worked great. The only reason my last Zune stopped working is because I dropped it in the snow before I got on a plane for Colorado.
Allright, there was nothing wrong with the zune itself, it's just the zune software got all fucked up and absolutely would not work for me i tried for weeks to get it to work. So now i'm just using the iPod I was using before I even got the damn thing.
sounds like you fucked up the software somehow because software won't magically break itself
Oh I'm just going to talk crap about a product that I managed to break myself because I cant figure out how to click next a bunch of times. -TheChantzGuy
Zune's don't even have fucking gapless playback. awful
Zune's don't even have fucking gapless playback. awful
Worth it if you don't have to put up with iTunes.
Worth it if you don't have to put up with iTunes.
good thing you don't have to use itunes to use an ipod! i'd rather use itunes than have to deal with a media player that lacks something as basic as gapless playback
Oh I'm just going to talk crap about a product that I managed to break myself because I cant figure out how to click next a bunch of times. -TheChantzGuy
I'm not even talking shit about it i was just saying it wasn't working. Getting the Zune software to run or even install correctly is a common problem. Anyways, I had to reinstall XP so whatever was not letting the Zune software start up, was now gone and I'm happily using my zune again, everybody happy?
See, I thought it was something you had installed. Next time that happens you don't really have to re-install windows, just go into MSconfig and disable all the services/startup programs you dont need.
