Hey FP, I'm looking to build a rig for gaming & some video rendering (e.g. After Effects). I also want it to be somewhat future proof. I've selected the following components I was just wanting some advice/suggestions on what could be improved (for a similar price). ZOTAC GeForce GTX 465 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £187.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-033-ZT AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1055T 2.80GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £149.21 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-267-AM Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AMD 890GX (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard £119.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-393-AS Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 10666C7 (1333MHz) Dual-Channel (KHX1333C7D3K2/4GX) £99.86 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-075-KS OCZ ModXStream Pro 700w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply £73.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-032-OC NZXT Apollo Gaming Case - Black NZXT Apollo Gaming Case - Black £56.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-017-NX Getting this Ram Instead. Cheaper, faster. Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) [CMX4GX3M2A1600C9] http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-203-CS
Unless you're doing a lot of rendering, don't get the 1055T. The 955 should be enough for video rendering unless you're doing big projects.

I just don't wanna be kicking myself, especially when people start actually developing more software that uses 6 cores.
955 does perform better than the 1055 on quite a lot of occasions though
955 does perform better than the 1055 on quite a lot of occasions though
Yeah I read that on a review, but is that not just until software is developed which uses the extra cores? It's just I want to have a CPU that isn't going to be too out-dated in a few years.

Certainly get 1055T, it's a great chip which OCs like hell also.
955. Future proof right there.
