Three strikes concerning theft is more than reasonable. Assuming that people are guilty because they have an IP address is not. Fining them thousands of times more than the cost of what was taken is not.
Welp, looks like piracy's solved, everyone can go home! Now on to drugs
they should fuck right off and leave us alone
So the copywrite owner has to make a claim against the pirate? Pretty much stay away from New Zealand made stuff and you're fine? [editline]24th July 2012[/editline] Looks like movies and songs are off limits.
Morals... Hunting pirates is more important than hunting Pedophiles, Arsonists and Murderers because MONEY. Don't get me wrong, piracy IS bad, but by no means it is something worse than harm to human lives. You can get your money back, but you can't get back a life. So instead of fighting piracy like you do you should start fighting more serious crimes this hard.
You know what would be an interesting experiment for governments around the world? Enforce personal integrity to 100%, let piracy run rampant and wait for the entire entertainment industry to keel over and die. I bet it won't.
In other news, VPN connections in New Zealand are growing at an exponential rate.

If catching pedophiles and murderers could make companies money, they would almost vanish completely. But because piracy is where the money is, its where the companies are.
That could also mean that people hide their asses better.
You can get a VPN for about $5 which for someone who already pays for an internet connection isn't that much monthly, fighting piracy is pointless, it has already run rampant and the music and movie industries continue to make profit, same for the videogame industry, proving that it's not hurting them, people still enjoy watching a good movie in theathers and buying good music albums as well as buying and playing good games, if they stop shitting on their own products and make good stuff people WILL buy it, if not then it's really their fault.

I usually use spotify to listen to music, and if I find a song/album that I like I buy it. As a sign of respect to the authors, and because it makes my life of swapping it around my digital media players (PSP, iPhone, ps3) a heck of a lot more simple. I love movies, but I'm not going to go out and buy a DVD or Blu-Ray to have to sit through boring advertisements informing me about piracy. When I could easily just wait a few years to watch it on netflix or a similar streaming service with no adverts, no fuss, and good quality. people are always going to go for the simplest, no fuss option.

A pedophile is not instantly a sexual predator.

Have they thought that maybe the numbers went down because the pirates are now hiding themselves better?
