Bought a Seagate FreeAgent Go external hard drive about two years ago. It's worked beautifully until about a day ago. Now, whenever I plug it in, it makes low, long beeps. I need the stuff off this hard drive, and the computer won't recognize it. It's the 250 GB model.

Okay. Reviewing the Seagate Knowledge Base again, it appears as though it's a complete mechanical failure of the drive. DAMN IT!
Yeah if your computer doesn't recognize it, there's no way to get the data off it as far as consumer methods are concerned.
Does your BIOS recognize it?
I had a FreeAgent Break on me a while ago and it had the short beeps.
