Nice to see a company actually reaching out to developers of a fan-project with something else than a cease and desist. I hope the original guys get to keep working on it in some way or another, with the aid/oversight of Capcom.
I'd love to see these guys get jobs.
They have jobs. This was a side project.
I meant at Capcom.
I meant at Capcom.
oh... nah I think they'd be better where they currently are
I'm really impressed by the developer being this software house that does a -fan game- as a side project as a way to raise their image. That is a pretty damn innovative move to market one's company.
People should do the same with Silent Hill.
People should do the same with Silent Hill.
Given Konami's recent bullshit, they'd tell them to fuck off.
Man that went a totally different direction than I expected from the title. That's awesome.
Knew they'd shut them down. It's just as well though, if Capcom will step up and give people what they want then so be it. Bonus points for not being total cocks about it too. Other companies (looking at you, Square) could take lessons from Capcom in this respect.
Given Konami's recent bullshit, they'd tell them to fuck off.
Actually, a group tried remaking Metal Gear 1 and Konami did in fact tell them to fuck. They even got David Hayter involved before Konami put a stop to it.
Given Konami's recent bullshit, they'd tell them to fuck off.
well they should make it and finish it before telling people about it [editline]19th August 2015[/editline]
Actually, a group tried remaking Metal Gear 1 and Konami did in fact tell them to fuck. Hopefully Capcom will be "taking over" the project and making it an official game. You know, just finish it, keep what they did. Because I really do not want an Isometric shooter.

But honestly while it looks fancy, this project was pretty.. bleh beyond the novelty and effort. Capcom will probably opt for the REmake approach and work with fixed camera angles, even if the environments aren't pre-rendered.

It's not as simple as "just add third person option". The shooting and movement mechanics are completely different, they'd have to completely change enemy behaviour to accommodate each control scheme, basically they would have to make two completely different games packaged into one. It's one or the other, and in a market already saturated with third person shooters, going back to what made the original games stand out is the right choice.
