One of the South Korean guys in the dorm I am currently staying in asked me if I could find a laptop for him that can play games/do school work/etc.(but mostly heavy gaming) He says he has $700-800 to spend on it. What would be a good pick? (He asked me to look because he cant speak/read english very well)

Heavy gaming? He better be able to play with lower resolutions and graphics quality. Otherwise he'd be wise to get a bigger budget.

This seems like his best bet then, it's got a bit of an outdated processor and gpu but should be plenty powerful. I know it's recertified but it's the most powerful thing I can find.

This is another choice if doesn't want to go recertified, comes with Optimus and it even comes with a blu-ray drive.

From what I found, this is your best bet for such a low priced gaming laptop. The HD 5650 is actually a good graphics chip and in benchmarks, beats that GTX 325M. Plus you get a Quad core instead of a dual core.
