IDE-SATA Adapter, Does not work?

The pictures should be pretty self-explanitory, IDE connection(external drive) > Adapter > SATA Drive

Wait, why are you trying to do that. Just go directly from sata to USB.

I have an IDE external drive but my hdd is SATA, so i bought the adapter shown above and connected the ide drive to the adapter an plugged the sata drive into it, but my computer doesnt detect the drive
