Okay, I work for a content production and distribution company, they need to update their server clusters.
This is what I have for the workstation servers right here:

If you can make any improvements and recommendations that would be nice.
And as our task description, we produce and stream full HD content, convert film video into UHDV digital, even render 3d animations for our close by college students.
buy raid card and make epic raid setup
Title made me think of PMCs
production company who uses tower-based servers? why don't they opt for racks from dell/etc? seems kind of silly.

This isn't a server in it's classical sense. This is what is going to be placed next to a mixer setup for cameras and microphones and other shit.

How is that?
They pay me like shit, so I want to milk them hard.
Don't get seagate drives.

Especially not for a server/workstation.

Why do you need such a high end sound card for a server?

I understand that your company is a media production entity, but I don't think you'll need a high end audio card at all, as rendering doesn't requires a decent one, or none at all.
Shouldn't your company have a systems analyst for this kind of thing?

Not to sure why, but servers usually have really nice sound cards.
I got a server for free when my friend's Dad's work upgraded theirs. It had a dual Pentium IIIs. So it wasn't to great, but it had a fairly nice sound card. Can't remember the model or brand, but I gave it to a friend cause he has a surround sound system and I have some Logitech head set.
