looking for a nice cheap portable music player preferably something greater than 2 gigs around $50, maybe a little more flac support isn't absolutely necessary, but i'd like it i'm kind of clueless on this, so tell me if $50 is too low
anything by sandisk from bestbuy. don't put flac on your portable. its a waste of space.

sansa clip iirc supports flac and is nice and cheap
Sansa Fuze is great.
what are your opinions on the zune hd? i may be able to get a slightly more expensive pmp and i want something with a web browser. that seemed in my price range.
Encode your FLAC to 320 kbps MP3.
what are your opinions on the zune hd? i may be able to get a slightly more expensive pmp and i want something with a web browser. that seemed in my price range.
I have a zune hd and they are simply amazing but they do not support flac.
Audiophiles and their flac.... You'll be fine with a high quality mp3 or acc.
Audiophiles and their flac.... You'll be fine with a high quality mp3 or acc.
The only reason I have FLAC is to convert to MP3.
i don't really care about flac. i'm more focused now on finding something with a decent web browser.
Um, what is flac?
Um, what is flac?
free lossless audio codec
i don't really care about flac. i'm more focused now on finding something with a decent web browser.
Then the only /real/ option is iPod Touch... I can't think of many other good mp3 players w/ web browsers.
Sansa Clip really; Zune HD if you're truly in a "I need a web browser and therefore forfeit most of my budget" mood.
Difference between Clip and Fuze?
I bought a 2GB sansa clip 3 years ago and it still works fine.
sansa clip iirc supports flac and is nice and cheap
FLAC playback is useless unless you have an excellent DAC, amplifier and headphones. Which is quite uncommon in portable MP3 players.

Anything from SanDisk, really.

The downside is that it is expensive. Another option that does not support flac and the web browsing is okay on is the zune hd. http://www.amazon.com/Zune-Video-MP3-Player-Black/dp/B002JPITXY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1291069598&sr=8-2 Then just grab a refurnished one.
I'm probably going to go with the Zune HD or the smaller of the Archos tablets. [editline]29th November 2010[/editline] It's a tough call, since I've been wanting to try out Android.
what are your opinions on the zune hd? i may be able to get a slightly more expensive pmp and i want something with a web browser. that seemed in my price range.
I'm in love with mine, the touch is much better than everything out there. The UI is awesome, wireless internet and radio is fun. The only qualm I have with the Zune HD, is the Zune software.
I'm becoming partial to the Archos tablet. Is this a bad thing? An Android device would seem to grant a more enjoyable experience due to apps and the like. Plus, no shitty, bloated software to fuck up my shit.
