Hello gents, Since my current PC is constructed mostly of rapidly outdated parts dribbled together on a budget, and held together with love and good faith, I've decided to finally upgrade. I mostly do things such as 3D work, rendering both the 3d and a smidge video on occasion, Photoshop and a decent amount of games. Wouldn't need an OS, Keyboard or Mouse, and my current monitor would do if the budget doesn't allow, even though it's an ancient Acer that can be bought for £30. Haven't been on the market for parts in over 3 years, so i have no idea what's good or where to look. Although I've heard AMD has been pretty crap lately. I might need a new case since this one's more of a skeletal Faraday cage, and it would be especially good to get some decent cooling in it. Oh and I'm in the UK, not that tiny moon country that also uses sterling. Anyway, thanks for any help

If you desperately need a monitor, let me know and I will adjust the build accordingly.
Total: £952 .
Neat, thanks a bunch That looks like quite a pc, certainly better than anything I've used before Whilst it's marginally under budget, are sound cards worth getting? I have headphones rather than surround sound, so I'm not sure of the benefits or if it'll be worth the extra cash
What headphones do you have?
What headphones do you have?
Panasonic htf 600s They don't have any of that 7.1 stuff in them
You wouldn't benefit terribly much with htf-600s, if anything you should spend that extra bit on an SSD [editline]14th September 2012[/editline] http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-2-5inch-Desktop-Accessory-Norton/dp/B005OK6VIG/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1347668073&sr=8-7 This is at an amazing price
Well, I'm pretty much ready to buy the PC above right now, but I've been thinking about monitors. Say if I was to add another £250-£500 to the pot, what sort of monitors are flying around for that much?

The LG is more price/performance oriented, but obviously it's going to have its flaws as many lower budget geared things do. Isn't really necessary to overspend much on a monitor, if you're looking for work space then just grab 2 of the LG monitors or a couple other nice 24" monitors.
sound cards are only as good as the sound system you have so i wouldn't bother tbh You're better off saving the cash for a comfortable chair with kick ass lumbar support
