That sounds really cool.
I love the idea of a more customisable controller. Hopefully the customiser you put layouts on the workshop and stuff with comes with as much customisability as that demonstrated by these comments, with where the haptic feedback starts kicking in and stuff.
the only problem I see in this is that it might be frustrating to the user when they have to feel around for the exact zone for a button on the trackpad. this coupled with a game that is hectic and fast could cause some confusion, but I guess it's best resolved by really knowing your controller layout.

I wonder how it will handle multi-touch, for want of a better word. On a PS3 controller I could press all 4 face buttons with one thumb. Could I do that with the Steam controller?
Considering Valve's habit of testing things almost to a fault, I'm pretty sure they were certain the controllers would work well enough for people. Glad to see the generally positive reactions from the devs though. Buuuuut I still won't be trading in my M&K any time soon.
I like how in the first thread people were all "this looks like a cheap speaker fuck that no analog sticks". I knew it'd be glorious from the start, its innovative as hell.
to be fair, they can run audio waveforms to the haptic feedback system and make it act like a pair of speakers
But how loud would it be? I expect "cheap headphones on full volume".
But how loud would it be? I expect "cheap headphones on full volume".
It's not for audio, it's for feedback.
It's not for audio, it's for feedback.
I know it's not for audio, but I'm still interested how well it can be translated into audio.

Without knowledge people will bandwagon and hate a product just for being different. "no analog sticks? KILL IT WITH FIRE."

They reveal more about you than you think.
