It was dead months ago. The tidal wave of DLCs and the lack of overall content killed it.
I bought this game, played through the tutorial, then never touched it again
I can't believe they had the nerve to make a SECOND season pass. And it wasn't even included in the Monster Edition, which btw, came out AFTER the ability to pre-order so they fucked over all the people who pre-purchased it. Jesus.
stillborn game
You guys want a good monster hunter? Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The music is great, the characters are excellent, the community is huge, and the game is just amazing overall. But hey it's not like I've got over 600 hours logged
so how's the evolve competitive scene going?

-Expensive entry-price (60$) on release. -Lack of content. -Jamming DLCs in the face of your audience before the game has even enough content to sustain itself. -Every match has extremely little variation in the actual gameplay. -Multiplayer-only game. -No real strategy, complex mechanics and no real emphasis on player skill bar the basics. etc etc

I think when it comes to bold print and highlighted text in "What not to do when making a game", Evolve is running with ink
You can play with bots
The last multiplayer based game I remember that did bots justice for me came out in 1999. Everything else just didn't do right at all. I don't see evolve bot matches having any of the charm of an actual match, and I certainly don't see it being nearly as wild. I don't see that counting at all. Not that I've played it, but bots just don't replace players, period.
I fucking called it. That the game was incomplete and not worth the tag long before it came out. I also said that the shitty devs would DLC the shit out of it. Bam, and people in the Evolve thread tried to shit on me on release when I said it was not worth anywhere near it's price.

God damn.
What I thought was extra scummy about this, which I'm not sure if it was intentional or just incompetence. It was called 'Hunting Season Pass'...When people see 'season pass', they immediately assume 'oh, this means I buy this and I should get most/all future DLC for free, right?' When people called them out on the fact that they were selling basically a couple of extra characters for $30 and nothing else, they said 'oh, but its a "Hunting Season pass"' So basically their season pass isn't actually a season pass, its just a badly worded DLC pack to give the illusion of having more value than in reality.
-Expensive entry-price (60$) on release. -Lack of content. -Jamming DLCs in the face of your audience before the game has even enough content to sustain itself. -Every match has extremely little variation in the actual gameplay. -Multiplayer-only game. -No real strategy, complex mechanics and no real emphasis on player skill bar the basics. etc etc
Game was a shitfest of crashes and instability that were present in beta and werent addressed for months after release, and they couldn't even get monster balance right. Kraken/wraith were both insanely overpowered to the point that it was pretty much impossible to win against a good one. There was nothing you could do to get wraith into a fight due to the insane dash+decoy combo that they could just use and suddenly be half the map away before you even realize that it's a decoy attacking you, and that was after they nerfed it so that a level 1 wraith (Which was meant to be a squishy, stealthy monster), couldn't solo the entire hunter team at level 1 due to decoy+supernova. It was fun to play briefly, but the amount of issues and time it took to get into a game when you were a group of people, only to have someone crash or the game decide to put you into an ongoing match but make one of your full party the monster, made it really frustrating. We tried to play it many times but we would get one or two games in before people couldn't be bothered restarting the game and repeating the process over and over til we could play.
i super like the character design of these games, it's a shame that it's all under a bunch of shitty practices. I loved the gameplay just the lack of content is huge. I want to like this game but there is so much shit in the way, it could have been good.

Seriously fuck this game. I hope it's dead and buried in an unmarked grave. Evolve that is.
Dead as Dillenger
Make it free to play already!
It's funny because the beta was really popular; people got their fill of the game in the space of a few days lol
It was super unique in terms of character, level and creature design. It had a lot of really fun features, but you had to pay to use a single one of them.
This game died months before the release...

I've played Monster Hunter 3 and 4, and, after playing for about an hour or two, I just feel bored and, at times, frustrated to the point where I don't even want to touch it anymore. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe they're not for me, but that's what I've felt about the Monster Hunter series for the past couple of years. On topic, though. I remember seeing an ad for Evolve in a magazine and thought that it had an interesting concept. To this day, I'm still surprised at how bad it has gotten. I really wanted to buy the game.
If only it was available on PC.
Heh. The portable format of the game makes it all the better to be honest. Being able to just go somewhere and blow a few hours fighting a giant monster when you have time to waste is amazing. It's one of the best portable games out there.
If only it was available on PC.
You could try the Chinese Monster Hunter online. It's super easy to register, has an active English community, and looks absolutely beautiful using the cryENGINE 3. The only sentiment I have with it is server lag, and it's easy difficulty.
Good joob mod, made me laugh!
It's funny because the beta was really popular; people got their fill of the game in the space of a few days lol
I was an Alpha tester, and I made it clear to everyone that exactly what happened to the game was what would happen. It was fun for two matches and then became very boring and repetitive, it just wasn't an interesting experience. Nobody wanted to believe me.

I remember my friends willing to buy it. 9/10 didnt
I'm confused how people can argue "too much DLC" and "not enough content" in the same breath. [editline]16th February 2016[/editline] Not defending the game, it's quite obviously a flop. But this argument makes no sense to me.
