Oh wow. Reminds me of that one egg in Batman that no one found. :v:
Damn if that's not some foreshadowing right there.
Though honestly, at that point in time, Destiny could have only been the plan or idea for a game. I thought they were all busy making Reach at the time.

Bungie's plan was to end the series at 3. ODST and Reach were made because of a contract with Microsoft. Considering that if thing had gone as they ideally hoped, they would have started a new IP after 3, it wouldn't surprise me if they had some vague ideas and a codename ready during ODST's development.

There's more, buried though, that the legendary ending of Halo 3 alluded to Destiny, though this was retconed in Halo 4, something bunige had nothing to do with.

Adding some context to that image, those swords were supposedly made from the same steel, meaning that they're related and not just three random swords.
Bungie is fucking crazy as shit, in a good way. To think they had this all planned out from the beginning..

I don't belive that it was in development ALL THIS TIME, I think they had the vision of "Destiny" and added references to it in their past work without even thinking of EVER producing it in the near future.
Me for instance, I have this dream of a game I would wish to pull of one day with an experienced team and a high budget. However, I am not in the position at the moment to start the project.
So what do I do? I already have hidden references of my "vision" in some other projects I am currently working on... and I am even doing it without my clients knowledge actually :v:
Small stuff like stickers and brands nobody really notices on minor stuff...
it's my way as 3D and 2D artist of live out my vision.

Could you lead me to where you got this from? Most likely a forum that sounds awesome. Also, the Sword of Mercy was never owned by Ogier, but in fact, Edward the Confessor, but Ogier DID use the Sword of Mercy

It's from Bungie.net in I think either the Universe forum or the Community forum and it's by Cortana 5.
Hmm. Probably not going to happen because of how Microsoft has continued Halo, but I think there might have been plans to name whatever armor the protag wore, Mjolnir Mk VII.
Considering how in Marathon, it was Mark IV, then halo had V, then VI

I agree with DMGaina, they probably had some idea of "okay we want to do something with 'Destiny' in the future so let's put this in here" and kept using that.
It's Bungie though, they're crazy as hell and I love them for it.

But that doesn't proove the actual development of the game was in 1995.
For instance, there are a lot of different Call of Duty domains registered to Activision for future games...
and I'll doub't to ever see a "Space Warfare"
Who knows how often the production came to a stop or if they were just writing design documents and playing around with the idea.
Ah well, doesn't even make much sense speculating about it, we will never know for sure.
I am looking forward to the game.

The icon for Marathon was on the side of the Pillar of Autumn.
Look towards the center for a circular section.[/QUOTE]
Marathon references are scattered throughout the Halo franchise.

Would have been funnier if the Pillar of Autumn was a Marathon-class cruiser instead of Halcyon

I well I never said that it was in development since marathon, but it is very likely that they began forming a crude image of what they wanted this game to be around this time.
kinda makes me want to go play odst, dat magnum was sniperish, and the nightvision/hud outlineythingy was halo 4 should have had
i just realised all the halo games i love are the ones where the standard pistol was epic,
also theres a marathon reference outside the bridge on the bulletin board on the pillar

how does one even possibly plan that far ahead?

Well, it's Bungie. They made a plan for world domination upon being founded.

Its shit like this that makes Bungie my favorite developers ever.
And I'm not just saying that to avoid being launched out of the giant slingshot they will inevitably build.

Let's not forget that Microsoft hamstringed/canned/whatever a major project that Bungie was working on after Halo went gold, to instead have them make Halo 2.
I'm pretty sure that Destiny is the project Bungie had been trying to make for well over a decade now, with constant interference from corporate publishers getting in the way.
