Well, I've been getting nose bleeds nearly every day for some reason;
I got one in class, and didn't notice until I saw a drop come down.
But what exactly am I supposed to do to stop it?
Ages ago, i used to shove tissues up my nose and that stopped the nose bleed.
But when i took the tissues out, it just took out a blood clot and it bled even more.
People say something about holding the top of the nose where the bone is;
I have no idea what they mean by that.
Any suggestions?
Hold the part directly in between your eyes.

Does that actually help?
Cause it's bone there, and I don't think it'll stop any blood flow, unless there's veins or arteries on that part.
Unless you're being sarcastic..
Tilt your head forward, pinch the top of the nose near your eyes like dual said.
@Phill - I don't know what the medical basis for it is, but I was told to do it when I got one a while back.
You shouldn't be getting them once a day though. That's bad.
And put something cold on your forehead. Also, do not tilt your head back. It just makes you get blood in your throat.
Yeah, I don't understand how it helps, supposedly it does but I've never tried it.
In all honesty you should go see a doctor, your nose shouldn't bleed that often.
hold just below the bone
Tissues still works for me.
Oh wait, I found teh bit you hold
Its half way up your nose, you should feel half bone and half... not bone. If you squezze it sort of hurts and completly cuts off airflow, so I guess that is it.

5 years ago i got them nearly every day in the spring time (pollon i guess)
But after that i hardly ever got them.
Now they're coming back, but not as bad.

Yea, i learnt that from experience; people where always yelling at me "LEAN BACKWARDS".
Turns out coughing up blood doesn't please too many people.
If you're still getting them, it helps if you stick like two fingers in your mouth behind your top lip and push on the gums right there. It makes you look and feel kind of dumb, but it works... good luck.
i have never gotten a nose bleed
Well you posted on facepunch.com, and let me tell you that it is the greatest thing to do as a first step.
Next you wait patiently for the professional medical doctors here to give you advice on what to perform next in order to treat the problem.
a common problem for nose bleed is picking your nose, stop doing it and after a week or so it'll stop bleeding!
blow as hard as you can
Jam a screwdriver up there.
i know someone who used to have the same problem, he used to put tampons (the vagin0r ones :P) on his nose holes until it stops, it avoids the clot or smt so it works perfectly. Just make sure you don't go outside with tampons in ur nose and don't ask ur mom for them cuz it may sound a bit weird :P. good luck
Blood clots are usually a good indication that the nosebleed is coming to an end. For whatever reason I usually get two rounds of blood clots before the final round and the end of the nose bleed.
Take a look at how bad the nose bleed to determine your course of action. I can tell if I'm going to get a really nasty one because I'll have enormous sinus pressure that's followed by a huge nosebleed (seriously, when I've had to deal with these ones in public bathrooms I've had people ready to call 911 about it). Regardless if you get that forewarning, the best way to deal with those ones is to sit down with a box or two of tissues and a trash can, then get someone else to get an ice pack (my mom has also used soda cans from vending machines in a pinch; they have to be REALLY cold though) and hold it on the back of your neck. You should tilt your head slightly forward, pinch the bridge of your nose, and keep changing tissues. If it's still not relenting and you aren't willing to pinch any harder, get your friend to pinch it ruthlessly. It'll hurt, but it should slow the nosebleed in the next couple minutes. If it doesn't, call 911, you'll probably need to go to the hospital to get the bleeding part cauterized (no joke).
If it's a fairly mild nosebleed, instead of stuffing your nose with tissues, get small squares of medical gauze an carefully roll them up and stuff it up your nostril. You should probably check these at least every 5 minutes and replace as necessary.
If the nosebleed is ending and isn't dripping blood, just leave it alone. I know it's the last thing you want to do, but it's best to let the blood start to scab over rather than keep annoying it. If you keep annoying it, you're setting yourself up for another nosebleed you have to deal with. Alternatively, if there's something you absolutely want to get out of, this usually makes for a pretty good excuse.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your bloody tissues are now bio-hazard material. I found this out the hard way when I would try to quietly deal with my nosebleeds in class and the teachers would freak out when they saw all the bloody tissues in the garbage. I had to bring them down to the school nurse and she had a special way of disposing of them.
have someone scare you :D
