If you save the money and buy all at once, rather than buying over time, you'll end up with a much better system. You don't have to be rich to buy all at once, you just need to put some thought into it, and use your bank account.
If you're buying over time, by the time you get the last few parts to build the system, the ones you bought at first will have aged, dropped in price, and possibly become obsolete.
Even if the parts from when you started buying are still good by the end of the build, you'll save money by buying all at once later, thanks to the constant falling of prices.

buying all the parts at once will save on shipping/delivery, and parts drop in price over time so it'll end up being cheaper
