[editline]13th March 2011[/editline]
ah the steam account, guess I'm just dumb.
[editline]13th March 2011[/editline]
also there is no video card so I can't really say. processor seems like it will play games ok. you could always try them to see if you can play them.
Actually that CPU will most likely be a major bottleneck.
Not designed for gaming.
It will play them on low.
And post your GPU, we cant say shit without it.

Nope. thats an onboard intel GPU and cant do shit.
I dunno, my friend can run Garry's Mod with it and some how pull at least 20 FPS without running GMA Booster.
Though he BSOD's whenever someone shoots at him so that kinda ruins the whole thing.
I swear, he must be magic.
Well, to be honest, I don't consider 20 FPS to be playable at all. I know because I played through part of Far Cry 2 with that FPS. It's not playable.

Even 15fps is enough for me
[editline]14th March 2011[/editline]
you are weird
I ran GMod at 5 FPS for months until nVidia fixed their fucking driver
Either way, that will run it like crap in dx8/7 mode, and wont be worth it at all since it will crash to shit
I've had GMod very playable on a laptop with an integrated Intel GPU (X3100). It did have a Core2 Duo though.
Ran at 40fps on ~medium settings.
I can get 60-ish fps on gmod on my Dell lappy (e5510).
aww yeah inexplicable performance. It also gets like 150 fps in minecraft.

15 FPS is ok on games like Cortex Command and tower defense games, not multiplayer FPS. You're weird.
TF2 is trippy as fuck on a intel D510MO
Rainbows EVERYWHERE
I played portal on a GMA once, other than A few BSODs it was fine except for chamber 18. flying through a room full of turrets with white windows at 5FPS:pcgaming:

It depends on the game, really.
You should be able to play TF2 N64 Edition on that.

N64s had texture smoothing, similar to Anisotropic filtering. I'd liken that more to TF2 PS1 Edition.
I suspect GMod would be perfectly playable at lowest settings with no HDR etc.

I doubt it. You would be surprised how little effect that can have on FPS. When I tried running HL2 on my old netbook, it obviously ran like shit once you got into the areas that are all wide open. I think I just bottomed it out and put it in DX 7 mode, maybe using some sort of performance config. Though for the hell of it, I tried this config that completely bottomed it out, worse than in that video. It changed the FPS by about 4-5 FPS, so basically it didn't do shit.
However, I did play GMod on that same 1.6 GHz Atom, 1 GB RAM, Intel GMA 950 laptop fairly well. I threw together a small map with some smaller textures and cheap water and managed to get about 40-60 FPS if I bottomed everything out. CS:S also worked in DX 80 mode if I played fy_iceworld or other simple maps with under 16 people.

It's insane how hard you can beat and rape the source engine into shape for your specific 512K IBM. Seriously, back before the Orange Box engine became mandatory, the level of shit people could make it look was seriously impressive. It's pretty damn cool in my book to have such scalability in an engine without hurting the core gameplay.

Got any examples of the older Source running on something really old? This intrigues me.
Sorry you can't play shit.
About the N64/PS1 edition, it actually made tf2 runnable on my intel 915GM, 15FPS instead of 1 and regular crashes.
[QUOTE=brandonsh;28606081]Got any examples of the older Source running on something really old? This intrigues me.[/QUOTE]well. there's this one where i beat and hammered Episode two untill it would run under dx7 (support for which was dropped with the Orange box engine).

I found another some time ago that crammed HL2 into appropriate shape for a DX6 rig. It was ugly, but shit ran and you didn't really ruin the gameplay. No disappearing walls, no clipping, no bullshit. Just a fuck ugly game and a flexible as hell engine. I've been somewhat fascinated my this too myself. Awesome doesn't even begin to cover it.

wrong, eyes don't see in FPS
Thank you all for what you have said in this thread. Now I've got a Samsung lappy with a GeForce and a Core i5 processor. Runs great on GMod with Fraps when I record onto my second local disk. Thank you all. Cheers :)

You can only notice FPS up to your monitor's refresh rate.
