Is there any drastic difference as far as gaming is concerned from having a SATA 6 drive rather than a SATA 3 drive? My current specs are as follows:
Asus M4A87TD EVO (motherboard)
AMD Athlon II X4 630 (Quad Core CPU)
4GB DDR3 1600
eVGA nVidia GTS 450
Seagate 320GB SATA3 HDD
So, with that shit plays great. Will I notice any increase in performance in upgrading to SATA 6?
You won't notice a difference between SATA 3/6 drives on the (mostly) SATA 3Gb/s motherboards everyone has. You also won't likely notice any difference when paired with the newest SATA 6Gb/s boards.
The only real benefit is the newer 1TB drives use 2 500GB platters, so you may see a slight speed boost based on their density alone.
If you use a SSD then games will load faster, other than that, nothing.

not even, i doubt SSD even exceed the speeds SATA3 supplies, its sorta like PCIE 2.0 which really isnt utilized at all by modern graphics cards

there's that one SSD line from Crucial that needs SATA 6 to perform at it's best, other than that it's not really relevant at the moment

For gaming, SSD isn't any better. For pure data transferring it's faster, for doing telemmetry stuff, other than that, not really.
From what I understand it is not that useful now, but down the line it will be essential.

Sata 3 does just fine with playing 1080p Blu-Ray movies atleast with my WD Caviar Black 500Gb 32Mb.
Shouldn't differ that much from other Sata 3 drives.

This could be simply from knowing you have an SSD that you think things are significantly faster. Like a placebo. We should do a test where we tell two people they have SSD's and only give one person one and see who feels better about it.

wow shutup please. You're half right, but a shitty SSD will still load everything faster than an HDD, and pure data transferring used to be faster on hard drives. The main focus of the SSD was to speed up random reads and writes which make up a lot of the work your OS, well, everything on your computer does.

Quite a bit of that post is factual, it takes no time at all to find any of the information. SSDs are proven to give massive speed increases in both boot time and general usage. And like Odellus said,it is due to it being faster to find the data on the drive, not just read it, with a HDD your disk needs to spin to the right sector, position the read head, and then read as the sector passes over it a stupid number of times. With a SSD it is as simple as finding the reference in memory, and reading the data on that block of memory. No moving, near instantaneous reading. Making it faster in everything.
