• Can someone make a build for me?

My budget is around $2500, and I'm planning to buy sometime in the next week or so. I mostly play Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead, but that's mostly because that's all I can play on my current machine. I'd like to run those two games at max settings at the highest fps, plus have some wiggle room in case I pick up some better games. I'm probably going to have to get a Vista disc if I can't find the one I used to have. I don't really have anything to re-use since my current machine is a laptop, and I want to build a desktop. That also means I need all the commodities: mouse, keyboard, speakers, monitor, the works. If it helps, I live in the US. More specifically, Florida. I'd really like to use the Core i7, because I've been drooling over the thought of an octo-core machine for a while now. However, I'm not ready to buy anything more than a quad-core at the moment. This is my first time building a computer, but my dad is going to help me out in putting it together. He works with computers for a living, but they're not really gaming computers so he can't help me with formulating the actual build here. Anyway, thanks in advance for anyone who decides to help! :3: I'll be here to answer any questions about things I might have missed.
i7 is a quad with hyperthreading [editline]04:47PM[/editline] also i5
i7 is a quad with hyperthreading [editline]04:47PM[/editline] also i5
Maybe I also should have mentioned... I don't really know what I'm talking about. I'm not a hardware kind of guy. I think I'm thinking of the motherboard, where it's the same one for the i7 as it will be for the octocore.
There's three Intel Motherboards. Sockets 775, 1156 and 1366. 775 is for Core2Duo and Core2Quad, 1156 is for the new i5's and the i7-860/870 and 1366 is for i7-920 through 975 and the i9 series when they're released. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150335 $1245.89 Also, choice of speakers and headphones; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104281 Total: $1377.88 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121120 Total: $1595.88 Either way, plenty spare for 2x5870. [editline]02:32AM[/editline] Oh, you can change the obvious stuff like Mouse, Keyboard, Speakers, Headphones, Case and Monitor. Those are just my recommendation.

So I suggest getting a motherboard with a socket that will be the future high-end socket Socket 1556: Future socket for mid end CPUs Socket 1366: Future socket for enthusiast CPUs I hope I explained it well
Just because you have the money doesn't mean you should get a 920. Stop suggesting that.
Just because the i5 is new doesent mean it's better.... It's not about the processor, but about the socket The main reason I am suggesting the i7 920 is because its on 1366 socket... If you want to look forward and get the best and best upgradeable parts get a socket 1366.... If you prefer getting a mid-range socket that will never feature high-enthusiast CPUs then get a 1156, but I dont suggest doing it.
