My 5old pc got broken and I decide to build a new one. I'll acquire the 4th Gen Intel 4670K and I'm looking for a cheap motherboard for that CPU. I found 2 kind of chipset, the H87 and the Z87. So the first question is, what is the difference between this two chipsets? Which one is better for 4670k? What MB to pick ?(looking for a cheap AsRock or Gigabyte). And I got a corsair vengeance 8GB 1600mhz and looking into the manual says the latency of that RAM is 10-10-10-27. What it means? 9-9-9-27 is better? So if anyone wants to know, here the spec: CPU Intel i5 4670k MOBO PSU OCZ 650w Modular RAM 8GB Corsair 1600mhz COOLER Akasa Venom Vodoo GPU
Z87 has more features than H87, but the biggest thing for most people is overclocking on Z87. (Although I've heard OC'ing is possible on one h87 mobo, don't remember which one.) The 10-10-10-27 is the timing of the ram, as in how long it takes to do certain parts of memory related things. You can look up what each number means, but overall, having lower timing numbers and a higher frequency speed (the 1600mhz for example) is better for ram. It's almost always a trade-off of getting a higher speed ram by getting with higher timings, unless you pay for more premium memory.

Personally, I recommend the G41 z87. It's about $100 which is great value for it, and it costs the same as the "overclocking" H87. MSI is also the most recommended brand on this forum, so that's an additional plus ... haha additional plus. If you are not going to overclock, get an H87 motherboard with a regular 4670 and save a bit.

I just built a desktop with very similar parts and went with the Z87-G41 and couldn't be happier. For GPU, depending on your budget, I would recommend a Sapphire 7870 GHz edition. I have one and it performs really well for $200.
GA-Z87-HD3 is any good?
GA-Z87-HD3 is any good?
Yes it is. Try the MSI g45 gaming as well. It has better sound quality than the HD3 and G41.
