Came up with a neat idea for a fictional monster, it's either alien or supernatural, doesn't really matter. It's basically like a modern Vampire in that it feeds off of organic material. So the modernity comes from it having to take a subtle approach in the modern world. What it does is fully consume a person in order to replicate their appearance and then infiltrates itself into a occupation that revolves around cleaning up after humans such as a busboy at a restaurant. It then secretly consumes a person's residue like saliva or the snot blow into napkins.
Is this understandable, or is there some glaring issue with this concept that I'm missing?
So it's like a more clean version of the Prototype virus from ProtoType

In a way yes. But it isn't a virus, it's an actual conscious creature.
It's okay for a gross factor I guess. It would be a much more efficient monster if it was a sex worker though :v
If one becomes a hospital incinerator technician it's set for life.

I guess those jobs would technically be more efficient, but they aren't as easy to blend into. Keep in mind it's just an illusion and it doesn't actually gain any anatomy a human has. Also wouldn't working at a hospital be kinda difficult?
