tbh while I think its great to have more chat apps, I hope it doesn't become a matter of needing multiple just to talk to people
tbh while I think its great to have more chat apps, I hope it doesn't become a matter of needing multiple just to talk to people
I'm already split between a few right now, I think the ones out already now do the job just fine
I've heard that Twitch acquired Curse specifically for this and that it fucking sucks.
I'm just glad google fucked off and doesn't own twitch imagine how absolutely awful a google owned chat app would be, through twitch, after we saw how badly twitch got ruined
hey gtalk was decent back in the day, a non obtrusive client with direct IM and voice capability.
To be fair, it wasn't connected to Twitch and by extension, youtube Gmail is great too. So are a lot of stuff. But I legit imagine people getting hit with automated copyright strikes on video calls :v:
and because it was XMPP you could freely move between custom clients if the gtalk UI wasn't for you
I've heard that Twitch acquired Curse specifically for this and that it fucking sucks.
So i imagine this is just a re-skinned Curse app then?
I wish that twitch would just fix their damn video player already, compared to youtube's live video player, twitch's video player is awful and should be their number one priority instead of all the meaningless decisions they've been making over the past few years with all the pointless features added to their service
I don't quite see this as becoming a competitor to Discord considering that 99% of the chatting in Twitch is just emotes + "kek". Although usually competition is better for the consumer
Is it also an Electron app?
Last time i tried this it was just like the discord app, there was no obvious big difference lol
I just wish Twitch didn't become a social network.
I just hope this pushes discord to actually complete features they said they've been working on for over a year. I just want my subchannels already.
Is it also an Electron app?
Wouldn't be surprised. Most desktop "apps" nowadays seem to just throw a resource sucking web wrapper around their website. What happened to using a native UI library that didn't suck up all of your RAM and CPU?
I mean, people are gonna use what they use. I'm sure for big streamers that don't already use discord will jump on this.
i cant even have twitch player open and chat in the same window like its normally supposed to be, the video freezes up and chrome becomes completely unresponsive. only works properly if i open the player in a new window/tab completely on its own

For example, if I really had to, I would probably have a much easier time making an application with Electron just because I don't know enough C++ to do it natively. (But I'll still try)

Hence the need/convenience for Electron. At this point there's nothing else to say, too many people use the web app and the app itself is really just too far into development to go back on it all now anyways.

As far as I'm aware, you can't have the same customization that CSS offers, in C#. WinForms is a bit tricky to get custom controls done and WPF seems to be the way to go, but I haven't used it much so I can't say anything about it. EDIT: https://github.com/SirCmpwn/chopsui seems promising
Can't you only watch people that have their own server in the app? This is pointless to have if I can't watch everyone I follow in it.
I just wish Twitch didn't become a social network.
I wish Twitch would focus on becoming the YouTube competitor it could be and that we need it to be instead of worrying about this
I wish people would stop using Twitch
