I like the idea behind having a GPU be external, the cooling would be alot better for a start I reckon.

Yeah external GPU docks are pretty fantastic things, the only thing that's kinda odd here is most of them let you put in your own graphics card whereas this one seems to have one baked in. Of course if you put your own GPU in you can resell/trade/upgrade etc without buying a new dock, but to be fair this is so new it's hard to bet on docks being identical a few years from now.
