Switch to XP or keep 7? - Hardware & Software

What is better for gaming and overall performance? I thinking XP, please be honest. i dont wanna hear LOLOL GET 7, post why please.

XP is ten years old.

Using XP now is like using Windows 95 when Windows XP was released.

So, still can be used just fine. Most things today still work with XP. (and by most i mean 97% of things)

Windows 7. Dude? It's 10 years old.

So. Explain why besides DURRRR ITS NEWER. I thought this was Facepunch not the world of 12 year olds.

DirectX 10 and 11.

Wow finally someone said something worth posting, but i do not care about those. I can get DX10 on XP and i dont need dx11. i can barly run dx10. [editline]04:45PM[/editline] What about the performance, resources? What will be better for running games?

I just got 7, and there's not just one specific thing I really like about it more than XP, but it's just so much better overall. Games run great.

If there's games which support both DX9 and DX10, the DX10 version will run faster at the same settings.

Windows 7 usually runs better on low end machines if you have over 2Gb+ RAM.

DURRR IT'S NEWER actually applies here, since XP is going to be completely unsupported very soon (it's starting now, with Office and Windows Live etc. not working on XP). There is no reason to use XP unless you have a very, very old PC.

Windows 7. It's better.

Get 7. It has active updates, support will be continued for a long time, and unless you only have 1GB of RAM, it is better. I know this may be irrelevant but it shuts down faster than XP. Windows 7 is much better at connecting to networks than XP as well.

Just stick with XP. You deserve it after acting like an immature prick.

Stick with Windows 7. Much better in performance with video gaming, especially in 64 bit.

Windows 7 performs better that Vista I know. And I can only assume Vista performed better than XP...hopefully.

In a nutshell why you should use 7: The performance difference between the operating systems is almost non existent, You will get updates for 7 now and in the future, You get to take advantage of new versions of DirectX (11 Is meant to be everything 10 was not). You get an operating system better suited to using the larger amount of resources on newer computers. And for when you grow out of gaming (Well, Some of us do...) you will find that the simple things like pinning applications, Progress on the super bar and mouse gestures just make the whole experience that much more bearable. There's really no common reason to be using XP now(**), 7 Is now and is here to stay, get used to it. **I still have XP on my audio workstation, simply because the drivers for my audio interface have not been updated to play well with Vista/7s new audio subsystem, Audio dropouts a plenty, And all my stuff works and is set up for XP - I will upgrade once I get a new audio interface. You might want to remove your youtube channel from your profile before you call people immature, words like kettle and pot spring to mind.

Most the people here who posted are immature. let them get their anger out by being a 12 year old.
