• Something is blocking applications from using the internet

For the past 3-4 months something has been blocking the following programs from using the internet. -Steam -Ventrilo -TeamSpeak -uTorrent I don't care if vent and TS is having the problem, but the fact I can't even access my games on steam that I payed over $300 on, pisses me right the fuck off. I've explained my problem on the steam forum, and no one replied. I've used google to find a solution, and all of the people who have had the same problem either got no answers, or the solutions people suggested didn't work. I've tried the delete the blop files in the steam folder, I've deleted everything and reinstalled steam. After reinstalling steam, it worked again, but after 24 hours, it did the same thing and won't connect. As for Ventrilo, I try connecting and it does nothing at all. For Team Speak, I get an error when connecting. For uTorrent, it won't do anything. Around 6-7 months ago I did something with my modem, and tryed to make my router do something that would let my PS3 play games online without disconnecting from every game after 5 seconds. (Red Dead) Only problem is, this was done waaay before I started having problems with these applications. Currently I have my firewall disabled, and I'm using the free version of Avast. When I told people about my problem before, they said I needed to get rid of AVG, which I did, and when I tried steam after uninstalling AVG completely, it did the same thing. If anyone can help me with this problem I'd be extremely appreciative. All I want is my damn games to work and not even the steam forums has helped me. I can answer any questions if that helps too.
It's very, very unlikely to be related to your problem but... - check your hosts file in C:/Windows/system32/drivers/etc - check your proxy settings - check if your parents aren't assholes who blocked ports so you stop playing games and focus on your work instead.
Just wondering, do you have PeerBlock? If so you might want to try turning it off, I've had it block Steam before.
check if you can access antivirus sites like kaspersky.com or whatever [editline]8th April 2011[/editline] this is because a virus or something might be blocking access to those sites
The site worked. I've gone through 2 free AVPrograms since this has started happening, incase there messing with the programs.
then have you used hamachi or something around when the problem started? that might mess with connection crap
As a matter of fact, I did install that program just to try out my friends server in minecraft around 3 months ago. I'll try to uninstall it and see what happens. [editline]8th April 2011[/editline] Alright I just uninstalled Hamachi, and restarted my laptop, still having the same problems right now. Alright I've removed Hamachi completely, and uninstalled anything left of AVG. The only thing left that could be doing this is my modem. A while back I started messing with my routers settings and ports and stuff, particularly to host games on my PS3. I can't remember exactly what I changed, but I know for a fact that whatever I did, worked. This was almost 8 months ago though, so it might not be the problem but at this point I'm looking at any problem and solving it.
