"...we want World of Tanks to serve as proof that a quality and balanced free-to-play game is possible" lol This game's about as balanced as a teeter-totter with an elephant on one end and a gnat on the other.
Wot has never been pay to win, honestly. Recently they've nerfed premium ammunition quite a lot, and prem ammo has been able to be bought with credits for some time. Wot's f2p model is probably one of the best around. You really only need to give WG money to keep your sanity for grinding tanks past tier 7.

I couldn't get into this game no matter how hard I tried. I just don't find the slow, realistic-paced gameplay to be fun. It doesn't help that I hate most free to play models as well though.

Gold ammo has always been bullshit, but then people actually starting using it...
Realistic? Tactical maybe.
That's a better word for it. I just don't like gameplay that's so slow and requires so much travel. Same reason why I don't really like games like Battlefield.
Honestly, my only grudge with this game is the terrible community and the spergs that play artillery. Haven't played it for a few months thankfully, been busy taking anger management courses after 2 years of being called a kurwa and dying to cruise missiles from across the map. I'm afraid this game will never truly be balanced as most battles are one sided curb stomps.
