Bullshit, they're just saying that because they haven't marked up the price three times like other companies but I know how cheap it is to get and make these things so the only way is if they add a lot of expensive extras.
um, loss leaders are incredibly common.
I know that, doesn't change the facts.
Why would amazon need a quick burst of big profit on the tablets which risks having less people buy them, when they can sell the tablets for cheaper and then milk the money from the consumer via the integrated amazon services in the tablet? It's as simple as that.
I know that, doesn't change the facts.
you've presented exactly zero facts thus far

Almost makes me feel ashamed of rooting mine to use the real market place in trade of the amazon one. ALMOST, then I just need to remind myself what a dick they are being with their own market place.
It just said they don't make profit so it's reasonable for them to want money for making the devices through every way possible.
Damn, I want that Paperwhite, I have a difficult time reading my Touch at night, and having a clip on light would be not nearly as effective. And contrast looks quite nice.
So they are exremely lucky that all the components add up to a total of £159 and no less.

Well, it cost Sony about $840 to make it. They made their money on service and games, which is what Amazon's doing with books and shit
They sell the readers at break-even but make an accumulative profit over time through sales of e-books.
I want to buy the new kindle fire HD, but I'm put off by it because of the forced adverts on the lock screen that you have to pay around $15 to remove permanently (which honestly I think is illegal under EU law). Reconsider not shoving adverts in my face Amazon and I will buy your new £200 kindle.
