A general rule of thumb is below 750w the Seasonic S12II is going to be your best bet (The XFX TS in the same price range is the exact same PSU with a different box) or the Rosewill Capstone, which is a great Superflower model. Under 1kw, you're going to be wanting the EVGA Supernova G2 series. The Superflower Leadex platform that it uses is one of the best in production. Above 1kw the best choice is actually surprising, an Antec High Current Pro unit is your best bet as it appears to be perfect. TL:DR; Brands don't mean shit. Individual models do.
I assume you're taking into account price there, Levelog. I splashed out a bit and got a 660W Seasonic Platinum series and it's been absolutely wonderful. But as I say, it was expensive, but OP mentioned nothing of price.

Antec's in general are pretty nice. They are the only budget PSU I would trust honestly.
I've been looking at this a few times now: Cooler Master V850, 850W PSU ATX 12V V2.31, 80 Plus Gold, Modular, 6x 6+2pin PCIe, 9x SATA, 4x Molex, 1x FD It's around 1200 DDk here in denmark around 200 usd. Anyone have some expience? [editline]27th December 2014[/editline] also include 5 years warrenty
What hardware is it running? Coolermasters generally aren't the best
200 dollars for a 850W PSU? That's nuts. You can get a [URL="http://www.edbpriser.dk/stroemforsyning/corsair-rm750-id-7591708.aspx"]Corsair RM750 for 800 Kr[/URL]

I've never ever heard anything bad about them. EDIT: I should probably research before I spout shit. However, it's better than most.

I dont know where you heard that Corsair is shit, I've put their power supplies in the last three computers i've build (Cheapest name brand power supplies I can find in Aus) and they run excellently.
Corsair has really slipped on their newer models and revisions. The CX series uses inferior Chinese caps for all but the main Panasonic, which is an 85 degree rated capacitor as opposed to the 105 degree rated Panasonics every other good PSU uses. This causes it to have subpar voltage ripple. You won't notice this right away at all, but it causes unneccesary stress on the components and will make them fail sooner. [editline]2nd January 2015[/editline] It should also be added that the first revision of the CX line used a completely different platform, which was far better. After they started selling like crazy, and lots of good reviews came out, they switched to this inferior platform. That's fucking shady imo.
My Silverstone Strider 1000w is great. Fully modular, nice thick cable, super quiet, auto fuse incase of a bad cable ( my old corsair was bricked by a bad cable ).. Great psu, lasted me 4 years now.
To be honest any PSU within your budget will be fine. Corsair are very good, but you'll pay a bit more for the name, as with EVGA. If you're not bothered about really nice cable management, don't bother with fully modular as they cost more. 1000w is way overkill for most systems, I'm not sure of your systems specs, but most average gaming rigs will be ok around 500/600w, if you've got a beefy GPU maybe make it a 650/750.
