Brilliant, too many games focus on multiplayer and fuck up the good campaigns.
4A said that multiplayer never went beyond prototyping, so it had never diverted too much attention from the campaign for it. 4A hinted it "could potentially return" to multiplayer after launch, but "Right now we're 100% focused on the single player campaign and not thinking beyond that."
As for why it planned to make multiplayer in the first place, 4A said, "We are gamers at the studio and really wanted to bring the world of Metro to life in a multiplayer environment. It was a decision made by us at 4A from the outset and THQ have since been supportive every step of the way, including our decision to put multiplayer on hold."
Good, I wish more devs would do this instead of pushing to get the MP done, focus on the SP and if the fans want it enough, bring the MP after release.
A big thanks from me. I can't wait for Metro: Last Light. I absolutely loved Metro 2033, which is still one of my favourite single-player games ever!
Wait didnt they said they will add MP to Metro 2033 after release as DLC ? And now saying the same thing ?
I file like I'm the only person that gets disappointed when multiplayer is dropped from a game.
Not every fucking game needs multiplayer and thank god these guys realize it.
Good. Metro 2033 was a singleplayer game, we don't need any dumb tacked on multiplayer to take attention away from what really matters.
Its a shame that mutliplayer had to be dropped, it could have turned out quite good.
But its good to see they have their priorities checked.

It depends on how well it's done in my opinion. If it were on-par with the singleplayer ala Splinter Cell Chaos Theory's coop then I would've welcomed it with open arms!

STALKER: SoC multiplayer was god-awful. The campaign was great, but the multiplayer felt tacked-on.
Metro multiplayer could be something great IF given enough time and work.
It could also fail horribly.
DROPS?
DROPS MULTIPLAYER?
Day 1 purchase.
[sp]I was going to purchase it anyway[/sp]

they say it may be added after release as a DLC or something, which is the right thing to do. The only sort of multiplayer that would be cool in Metro would be co-op or a co-op "Base defense" mode. I can't see PVP being good at all.
Metro 2033 PvP would just be call of duty.

In the dark! ~woah~
Better to focus on a good singleplayer campaign than to split your focus between two separate modes.
While I think coop would be neat in a way in this, it would take away from the atmosphere a ton
but COOP... :(
A co-op game mode where you had carry a bunch of military ammo from the beginining of a level to the end ala left 4 dead would be pretty cool. Your score would be determined by how far you got/ how much military ammo you have left. So you could use the military ammo to defend yourself but it would detract from your score.
While I will admit I really liked the idea being able to do small-player coops in the Metro universe, I have a feeling that if it were to be done at all, it would have to be done in an environment that is far more open than Metro 2033 and presumably Last Light's campaign.
I also have a feeling that 4A were thinking along the same lines, and to make a world as detailed as the Metro universe and make it open would consume an enormous amount of time and resources.
So I can understand dropping the idea. The Metro universe is, first and foremost, an interactive story. Something that 2033 excelled at, and I am sure Last Light will as well.
I eagerly await its release.
I am glad they are dropping uneccesary things in favor of bettering the SP experience. If anything, if they absolutely feel the need to, they can always introduce a DLC with MP. I just wondering if the story of Last Light will follow the book; Or if it will have its own story..

If it followed the book, you would experience 10 hours of thrilling philosophical discussion with your fellow metro dwellers and one firefight.
Could of been nice for a coop story, You get attached to your character's than they die off and you see can their remains in singleplayer.
Kind of like splinter cell conviction.
Good.
drops multiplayer to focus on campaign
I never thought I would read these words ever again.

I doubt it would. Direct books-to-video games wouldn't work out well.
Would have been great to have a co-op but I guess it would be really hard to sneak around with a partner. The best part about Metro 2033 for me was sneaking around
iirc, If they followed the books storyline, there would have been possibilities of coop in the game, as the main character in LL, unless I have my books mixed up completely, does get several characters accompying him. [sp]only two survive tho, iirc[/sp]
Now THIS is what I want to see :D Can't wait for this game to come out. Just finished Metro 2033 yesterday.
