Hey guys,
I need a USB sound card with a mic input, but I have no idea which one to buy or where to start. It's for a netbook
I'm using it for gamma-ray spectrometry using an audio cable, and need a high sampling rate low-noise card.
My internal laptop card produces a lot of noise and thus cannot be used for this purpose. It will be used for recording pulses, and if possible the card should be able to take inputs higher than "normal max volume"
This is because some pulses from the photomultiplier are very strong but are put all in a single channel instead of its own individual channel, and I end up losing data.
Thanks
Why does it need to be USB?

perhaps I wasn't clear, I'm using a netbook.
If that's what you mean, then I suppose I could open it and upgrade it, but I'd rather get a USB one so I can switch laptops/desktops and not have to switch settings on the spectroscopy software.
