Alternative to the roxio game capture software?

I got one of these standard roxio gamecaps

the software it comes with is horrid
are there any alternatives to capture video with?

You might take a look at Pinnacle Studio.

I bought a Dazzle that came with Pinnacle Studio 14, which has issues capturing stuff, so I had to downgrade to version 12.

So if you do plan on using Pinnacle Studio, try out version 12 first and see if it meets your needs.
