I am having a new Dell Inspiron 15 shipped with an X4500HD integrated graphics card and a 2.1GHz processor; will this be good to play GMOD & HL-2? I have not had very good experiences when it comes to the integrated cards and GMOD. EDIT: It will have Win 7 64-bit Home Premium as the OS
Why would you buy a dell?
That's a horrible machine, how much are you paying for it.
I'm not paying for it, the person who is , is a cheapskate. And I think it's about $499 base price.
$500............. You are getting ripped off.
Don't get it unless you want a sideshow for GMOD.

Frankly: It's a piece of shit.

if it is a dell vistro get it those are nice
Dont do it
No, that PC will not play Half-Life 2 and Gmod very well.
I have not a choice in the matter; it's already been purchased. I'll just have to do -dxlevel 81 and pray. It's only for travel and work; I have a nice desktop rig.

Cancel the order while you still have common sence and order something semi-decent instead.
if it is a dell vistro get it those are nice
Ummm did you read any of this thread? It has an integrated 4500 and a Dual-core @ 2.1GHz...that's pretty bad nowa days. [editline]07:14PM[/editline] For $500 none-the-less.
I thought the 4500 was the decent Intel card. Well, if my netbook can play CS:S (Iceworlds and some other simple maps, though whatever), this machine should play it fine.
Edit: Deleted post. Not worth more than $200 at the most. ..Probably not even $200.
$500 for that. What?
I don;t think you understand wahat a x4500 can do, and a vistro is pretty damn good with battery life
I'm saying he can do better for $500. This Laptop here is priced at $450. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115654 Specs are: CPU: QL-65 2.1GHz X2 RAM: 4GBs DDR2 667MHz HDD: 320GB 5400RPM Max Resolution: 1366 x 768 Screen Size: 15.6" GPU: ATI 3200 Battery Life: 3 hours Now if you look here, http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Radeon-HD-3200.9591.0.html, the 3200 has the upper hand compared to a 4500 http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-GMA-4500M.20379.0.html Not trying to be rude or anything, I'm just saying he can do better for that budget.
and for the record, I'm running on a integrated 3100 and I can play TF2 with 25-35FPS with settings on mostly high with no AA.
After having it for about 2 weeks; I have come to the conclusion that it's actually a decent machine. GMOD And all other Source games run at about 35 FPS; and Rigs of Rods gets about 45 depending on the terrain.
For 500 bucks you could have maxed gmod and all other source games.
GMOD And all other Source games run at about 35 FPS
for $500? I'm crap at generalising price/performance in dollars and even I know you could do so much better than that
For 500 bucks games.
...... Fuck :suicide:

You did terrible.
Dell are notorius rip offs, they only put quality hardware for things people will recognise, most people think that pc gaming depends on the amount of "megahertz" the PC has, most are unaware that video cards have clock rates as well, and the importance of RAM. So dell puts a Core i7 with a shitty motherboard, PSU, RAM, and an old video card, then sells it for $2000. Either buy it from a company that has a reputation for quality rigs, or build it yourself.
As much as I hate to say it, ridiculously expensive brands like Falcon Northwest, iBUYPOWER, Puget Systems, and lolapple are your best choice when buying prebuilts.
Why did this thread come back Dont buy it, it sucks balls /thread
