Also, why the fuck would dayz be on there, that's as far from "best" as you can get. It's so unoptimized(worse than arma oa) and unfinished it's not even funny.

DayZ doesn't add FPS mechanics. I love Arma and hate that it's been contrived to one zombie mod.

the only way to salvage this list without adding new titles would be to just replace all other 14 games with FEAR 1.

Tho I guess in the format of a public article it serves to attract people that want their taste confirmed and will fill the comment section with whatever mismatches they notice.

Why not bad company 2? Compared to the other games at its time It was fairly great and free map packs for PC. It certainly felt more destructive then BF3 or BF4 was ever to me, honestly even the SP was quite amusing.

Human Revolution too. Granted, it's less awesome than the first one but it's still one of the best (kinda) recent FPS.
I can't say I'd put PS2 or vegas 2 up there

Only thing L4D2 is missing is The Lighthouse survival map, and Valve probably hasn't added it in due to all of the focus and effort on DotA and the SteamOS. The Left 4 Dead series was left 2 die as soon as they ported the last L4D1 campaign to the second game.
And no, the Japanese arcade knock-off doesn't count because Valve had nothing (or next to nothing) to do with its development and release.
The singleplayer list is tolerable I guess.

I don't agree with this list, it doesn't have [MY FAVORITE GAME] on it and it's rubbish.
Vegas 2 is a game I had a ton of fun o0f but I'm not sure I'd put it in a top list. Maybe a top co-op game list.
Same for Human Revolution. I'd consider it more of an RPG than a shooter, like Fallout 3 or Skyrim.
they do claim it is a subjective list but whatever here's my two cents:
singleplayer list is missing original deus ex, as well as system shock 2... I would say Half Life 1 as well but they did add the sequel
multiplayer list is missing quake

No ArmA 2, no System Shock 2, no BF2142, no Ghost Recon, no Quake 3, no Project Reality (Though in its current state I wouldn't put it on there either). Fucking terrible list. The only ones I agree should be on there are UT99 and L4D2
I've always thought Deus Ex: HR is more of an RPG game rather than FPS.

Some games trump others in numerous ways, though. You can not say that DayZ deserves a place on this list. Because it doesn't.

It's different from your average first person shooters and brings a lot of new things to the table
