Some asshole ISPs like to block Steam traffic. Check if yours is like this.

ISPs seriously do this? What's the use of that?
School networks blocking Steam traffic is understandable, but a ISP?
That means you should try a proxy or VPN server, except I don't know
where to get one.
Im on virgin media but i dont understand why it would work completely fine on my laptop

Nope, it's not your ISP.

I work for Virgin Media and we definetly don't block steam traffic
Also, what Modem and Router if any do you have? (Probably the VM Superhub most likely?)
Yeah i have the super hub i think its more to do with my pc as it works fine on my laptop
Go into settings and there's a tab where it allows you to choose the location of the download server, try different ones

I have tried that many times and still doesnt work
Does any1 have ideas?
You said you have to download games on your laptop now, are both computers on the same network? That could narrow it down to a problem with your computer itself.
Yeah they are on same network
Shot in the dark, but maybe try reinstalling your motherboard network drivers. If you aren't having other connectivity problems on your computer, that's certainly a strange scenario. If that doesn't work, reinstall steam completely by deleting everything in the folder (in program files (x86) on windows) except steamapps and the application itself. Then run the application, and it should force update while saving all your installed games.
Its only steam with problems so doubt its motherboard drivers and ive also tried reinstalling steam
