I'm too hype. Oh my god. BUT! I don't think real money should be used.. Ya know? Nothing ever good came from that..
If the money gets thrown back into the game and not out to greedy shareholders, that's fine by me. GTA is going up from here.. I wouldn't buy it though, would rather work for the cash, whole purpose of the game right?
As long as it's possible to make the money without paying I don't see a problem.
I don't think rockstar expected to make 1 billion $.
They probably had this planned out a while ago.

They knew they were gonna have millions of sales that's why they shipped so many copies.
i doubt they'll do it
I dunno but this would make me a lot less motivated to do big heists/games/events to earn cash because i would know that some fucker could pay some money to get the same amount of money as i would have within a second.
Of course, there had to be a catch. I certainly hope this won't be actually used because it's a rubbish, money-grabbing idea.
As much as I love gta I have to say I hate this idea completely. With this game being about the money I want my hard work online to show by having expensive things and it will all seem pointless if you can just buy everything with real money.
I say bullshit.
[sp] I fucking hope it is [/sp]
What do you even buy?
I thought it was just 16 player free roam and stuff
How do your apartments and all that even carry over, what if somebody else on a different server has the same apartment
This whole this is confusing
-oh wait nvm sip-
Its a sad time indeed when Grand Theft Auto, of all games, start trying to break into microtransactions/"convenience" DLC. Still, as long as they don't try to force the sale of these by making money neigh impossible to earn in game it can't be that bad. It could be much worse, like $20 for a bomb that insta kills every player on the server while playing "The Gremlin Rag"* .
*: I like The Gremlin Rag, aka the theme to "Gremlins". The city wiper is supposed to be the bad part.
rockstar driving me to a life of crime better rob a bank with a glock
please no
Quite honestly, I saw this coming a mile away. Rockstar already said they planned on supporting GTA online with post-release content. How do you suppose they pay for that new content and the fees for keeping the servers online?
I'm not saying this is the way they SHOULD be going about doing it, but nothing is free in this world.
"oh no I have the option to buy money to shortcut earning it rockstar really dropped the ball here"
"oh no I have the option to buy money to shortcut earning it rockstar really dropped the ball here"
Its not just a shortcut, its ruining certain points of the whole GTA Online aspect. Besides you would be doing missions and heists for fun, you also want some beefy cash to go with it like in GTA single player.
I really don't see the reason to care about this even if it is in the game. I'm sure that there will be enough money flowing around the streets with others killing each other for it, and such that it won't be too much of a problem to get.
I mean, sure others can get cash that might take you a day to get in a second, but what really can they spend it on? There's not many guns in the game and it's the only thing that is going to give people an edge, so once they're bought it'll be spent on crap like modified cars and big houses that aren't really going to give them any advantage. The only way I could see there being an advantage is in races and it's really not gonna be too hard to set yourself up with a car dedicated to races.

"oh no, i have the option to buy anything i fucking want and not have to earn it because i can just buy it with real money"
pretty lame for people that dont want to spend real money
They could make a joke of this and sell the $10,000 pack for $10,000 real dollars, same for the other packs.

im crying. we are gonna be poor. oh fuck oh fuck i need to email rockstar and demand a refund

the only person who the gameplay might be ruined for is the person buying the in game cash, your gameplay can't be ruined by someone who decided to buy 100 RPG rounds or a pimped car because 1. You can't even tell if they bought the money or not and 2. Why would either of these affect your gameplay? If they're so rich that they refuse to heist with you who cares join another server or i dunno just ask the other 14 people on the server

How do you know the other 14 people haven't spent real money on virtual billions? It always creates a gap between players.
Paying real money for online, in-game benefits ALWAYS has negative effects on those who don't do it. Having people who spent real money to get millions in-game running amongst those who are struggling to earn their thousands the traditional way is really unmotivating for them.
I really don't think they're gonna do this though.
Only way I think you're OK with this is
A You've never played a game where you can buy advantage over others
B You're one of those who actually do it
You're treating like this like the online is a competitive mode or something
im crying. we are gonna be poor. oh fuck oh fuck i need to email rockstar and demand a refund
The situation when a Facepunch user sent tons o moni to garry and his mom had to email him to take back that money?

It sort of is - who has the biggest amount of property, cars, etc

Apartments are most likely instanced.
