So I just updated my computer from 4gb (2x2gb sticks) to 16gb (2x8gb sticks). To start with the computer wouldn't boot with all 16GB so after a lengthy process of updating my ancient BIOS it now boots. However the system window in Windows says 16GB installed but only 3.48GB Usable.
Worth noting that the full 16GB is recognised in the BIOS and Memory Remap is enabled. My BIOS is also now the latest version.
Anybody have any other ideas?
New RAM = Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz
Other specs:
W7 Pro 64bit
Asus P8P67 (1.02rev) Motherboard
Intel i5-2500k (default clocks)
GTX 570
850w PSU.

Fixed about 2 minutes after posting. It was an msconfig issue.

For anyone looking for a solution you need to go into msconfig, go to the "boot" tab, hit advanced options and make sure maximum memory is ticked, enter the exact amount of RAM in MB (in my case 16384) and hit OK, and Apply. Then reboot.
try to boot it in safe mode.

those boot options are for limiting memory/core amount, there's no need to set them.
As unek said, no need to set those. For anyone else looking to fix the same, it's fairly likely your computer is in selective startup. You can fix that by going to msconfig and switching it from selective startup to normal.
