[img]http://files.braxnet.org/723f484.jpg[/img] The router seems to make it's own LAN, so the switch & router won't work together with WMP and such. How could i make this work so that everyone can access media sharing/folders in the whole network? I'm pretty much stuck here.
Router > Switch > PC's and Server v Laptop and N900 On the server install Linux Debian, and install Samba on there, that is the most simple file sharing thing ever, all you gotta do is edit a few files. [editline]09:54PM[/editline] I added you on steam incase you wanna talk more about it, I have a file sharing server in my home.
Nope, i hate routers, and i want a static ip on my server & pc.
But in your post your saying "so the switch & router won't work together" so doesn't that meen your going to use one?
Well, i want wireless too, but i don't want to plug my pc in there, it slows down the internet, also we can choose our own ip addresses here. Can't do that while in the router. postin' from the n900 right now, might get slow.
I have 2 PC's, 3 laptops and 1 server in my house and I don't get a drop in internet speed and er, I dunno about the own IP problem though.
Well, our router is shit. And i have 2 servers actually, can't use router then. I was thinking of plugging my pc into the switch and router at the same time, would it work?
Yes aslong as its all on the same network the file sharing will work.
Yep, will try tomorrow. I have a feeling it won't work though...
Worth a try.
Okay, tried plugging another in. It uses the wrong "internet" now - how can i make it use the other port? [editline]08:53PM[/editline] Hm, fixed it :downs:
Nope. Same as above: Either slow internet + sharing or fast internet + nothing.
