When your judgement isn't clouded by industry "standards" and silly market research on "what the kids what", you can make whatever you want.
And it turns out to be more unique and organic than anything else.

Like what all the indie devs say, just make something you yourself would play.
This gives me hope that I can, at the very least, have the ability to get a stable job, if I just try.
Panic! PC Gamer forgot to use Bathtub Geralt

Tbh this is a tell-tale sign to me that 2017 will suck as much as 2016 did.
EDIT: Mild relief as I discover that the pic is used right after in the same blog post.

7 Days to Die is a good example of this. And it does it good

They broke the ancient pact. They must pay with blood.

If the devs have fun making a game, the players have fun
this applies to all entertainment.
I've played for only a few hours so far and there are already countless reasons for why I love it. There are so many small details and ways they bump the lamp that make me wish I had spent a hundred hours on this instead of games like Skyrim (although it does have it's perks).
My only criticism is that I wish Geralt's beautiful wavy locks didn't halve my framerate.
It's one of the few series of games that only got better with each installment. That's not to say Witcher 1 wasn't good, but those first 2 chapters were a fucking drag to get through.

Clearly they need to upgrade the bathtub picture now that the calendar is out.

Witcher 1 definitely had its flaws, and Witcher 2 really ironed them out
