• Computer just instantly shuts itself down, but fans still run.

This problem just started happening today and it happened twice. My computer just instantly shuts down ( peripherals such as mice and keyboard loose power, monitor looses contact, the power button on the PC isn't lit, etc as if it was a regular shut down) But the thing is, when it did it I can still hear all the fans continuing to run as if the PC is still working and the only thing to fix this is to press and hold the power button to completely shut down the PC and restart it like usual. Can anyone tell me what is causing this to happen? I don't think it's my temperatures, CPU usually runs 37c idle and it only gets as hot as 56c under load. My GPU is 56c idle and around 74-77c while in games. Could it be a sign of a dying PSU? Anyway to check that it may be that?
Sounds like standby mode. Sometimes there's a glitch where the fans won't stop running in standby. If the power supply was dying, it would either be frying hardware or shutting everything down completely. Go to power options in the control panel and see if it's set to sleep/standby after a period of time.
Stand bye, press spacebar, or the power button. If nothing comes on somthing is majorly wrong.
[QUOTE=computerwizard;17096382]Stand bye, press spacebar, or the power button. If this is turned off, sometimes you need to use the power button to come out of standby.
If it was stand by mode, the power light on my PC would be blinking yellow. In this case, it's not. But then again it could be kinda plausible that this may be the case.... But if it is stand by mode, why would it suddenly just do it out of the blue while I'm in game and such?
Still really need help with this problem.
