I am using a wireless router to connect to my Wii (lol). Recently, I have been unable to connect my router and my wii. If I bring my laptop to the same spot my Wii sits in, I can connect with the laptop and get an excellent signal. How can I make my Wii detect my wireless router in "Search for an access point"?
-Wireless SSID broadcast is on
-I am using channel 11
-My router is a Siemens SE 587 Gigaset and I have been able to connect before.
-It is a MIXED router (802.11b and g)
-My wii is in the room directly above my router
-I have ensured that there are no metal objects below the wii and on the router
fug help and support, that section is only good for trolling.
Ha, My dad works for Siemens. Anyhow try doing a hard reset on the wii. (Un plug and leave unplugged for 10 minutes.
You need WEP security, if I recall correctly.
I had a rough time getting mine to work as well

I've got mine connected via WPA2, the Wii should support everything except enterprise level encryption. Check to make sure your router isn't set to hide your SSID.
happens to me as well, my house is like made of lead wifi sucks here
Lead paint and asbestos is bad for wifi signals.

Alright, maybe it's just the DS that can only use WEP :P
I use WEP in my house just for compatibility's sake. Security is good enough. My sensitive data is on an un-networked machine. (You would have to physically sit at it with a USB drive if you wanted to hack it and steal data.) Anyways, I've connected all my devices like Wii, PS3, PSP, both laptops, and desktop tower without any problems. The Wii and PSP fuck-up if I try using WPA or higher securities.
Hmm, mixed responses going on here...
OP, have you tried using WEP yet? Maybe some models can't connect to anything else O_o
Unlikely, but you never know
