My installation of Windows (Vista) is really messed up so I'm gonna re-install, I've never done this before so I'm wondering is it gonna wipe my hard drive? And will I have to set everything up again from scratch or will it retain some of my settings?
Also, if my Vista re-install doesn't work, is it possible to get a new version of Windows and install that on an older computer, or will my computer not support a newer version? Thanks
I believe that you can reinstall without wiping the hard drive but it's recommended that you do, otherwise you'll have old windows files and stuff. When you reinstall, you have to go into custom setup to wipe the hard drive. If your computer can run Vista it can run Windows 7 and 8. Windows has only gotten faster since Vista
