No Idea how to build a pc or what I need. (build my stupid ass a computer)

I have been convinced to build myself a PC instead of buying one but honestly have not the slightest idea how too or what I need. I have a budget of about 1000$ but it would be great if I could spend less. I would basically like you guys to build me a decent computer for my budget. I really have about a child's knowledge on the inner workings of a computer so detailed information would be nice. Also building its gonna be a challenge but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

Just for reference I would like to be able to run games such as Arma 2 at the highest setting possible in relation with my budget.
