Hello Everyone! In this thread I plan on talking Server Jargon, So this is mainly aimed to enterprise users but feel free to add your opinion. Recently I wanted to invest in around 10RU of rackspace in a Sydney Australian data center. I get 10TB of bandwidth, around 4 amps of power and 10WAN and 10LAN ports of a gigabit switch. Now I am wondering! is it worth getting 10x1RU XeonE31245v2's with 16GB DDR3ECC Ram Each (Each comes with 2x1TB SAS Drives, NON REDUNDANT PSU, 2xGbit Nics) or 5x2RU Xeon E5-2650 2.0GHz with 32GB DDR3ECC Ram (Each Comes with 4x1TB SAS Drives, Redundant PSU, 4xGbit Nics) or a Mixture of both? I plan on running a Game Service Provider, Webhosting, VPS Node, (Maybe Colo space). Thanks for your opinions [editline]25th September 2014[/editline] I just noticed I put this in the wrong section! sorry.
Well I would personally go with the 5x E5's, the servers are going to be more reliable, but it also depends on what game servers you are hosting, if you are focusing mainly on Garry's mod I would recommend servers with maybe a little less ram but higher clock CPU's. Although you will be able to host more servers with the 10xE3's.

It could be 50 Gmod servers or 50 Minecraft servers. Thats the hardest thing is what they are mainly going to be used for
Hmm it really is a tough decision. I guess i would go with the 10x E3's, you will more than likely see more bang for your buck and you will receive a faster return for your investment. if you could I would get a couple of the E5's and 6 E3's
