• Cannot get into Aministrator account on Windows 7 starter

First off, I'm horrible with computers. My laptop just recently broke and until i can get it fixed (or rather, buy a new one for college), i am trying to use my friends netbook that he gave me when he left for the military. His account has administrative priveleges,i don't know his password, and I cannot get a hold of him. I have already tried typing "net user administrator /active:yes" and all i get is an error (even in safe mode). I have also tried searching for "secpol.msg" in the start bar, but nothing comes up. Any help would be much appreciated.
Have you made sure that when you 'search' for cmd, don't press enter... right click and "run as administrator" then try again
yes, I made sure to try and run as administrator, but it keeps giving me "windows error 5" or something like that when i try and make a net user administrator. When i try and use user account controls to change my account to an administrator it doesn't save the changes, and says nothing about access being denied.
Try this: Hit winkey+R to open the Run prompt, and enter "control userpasswords2". Under the Advanced tab, click "advanced" under advanced user management, open Users, right-click the administrator account and hit properties, then uncheck "account is disabled."
Reboot in safe mode. There's a hidden administrator account that you can use to remove the password.
