The image, which was posted to Chinese-language site it.com.cn from an unknown source, reveals that - as expected - the Radeon HD 6800-series will no longer bear the ATI name, with a logo on the fan featuring the new AMD Radeon branding in its place. The rear of the two-slot card features a pair of DVI-I connectors, an HDMI port, and two MiniDisplayPort connectors. Supplementary material included with the leaked picture shows that the Radeon HD 6870 will include support for AMD's Eyefinity multi-monitor technology, although how many individual displays the five connectors on the card can drive simultaneously is not yet known. Chinese-language vendor details that formed part of the leak indicated that the pictured Radeon HD 6870 would be based around AMD's Barts Pro GPU, and will be joined by a cheaper Radeon HD 6850 at launch. For the gamer on a budget, an even cheaper AMD Radeon HD 6800 looks to be on the cards, featuring the Barts XT GPU. Absent from the leak was details of cards based around AMD's next-generation Cayman GPU. Although the company is thought to be launching Radeon HD 6970 and 6950 models that use the new GPU, but it's not yet known when they'll be launching. Interestingly, the leaked press details also include reference to an as-yet unannounced technology dubbed 'Eyespeed.' With press images ready to roll, it can't be long now before AMD launches its latest cards - and we'll be sure to get examples in our labs as soon as we can. Do you think that AMD's newest cards look to be giving rival Nvidia a run for its money, or are you waiting for the Cayman-based cards to hit the market before planning an upgrade? Share your thoughts over in the forums.
source: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2010/10/08/amd-radeon-hd-6870-leaked/1
Looks square
cool I guess, can't wait for benchmarks and is FP extremely slow for anyone else? [editline]05:16PM[/editline] cool I guess, can't wait for benchmarks and is FP extremely slow for anyone else? yea, it's pretty slow for me too.
Garry's moving the servers to Amazon due to recent DDoS attacks. I'm assuming they're just working out the kinks.
why is the exhaust slot so small?
most of the 5000 series cards have exhaust slots just just like that.
the fuck is 'eyespeed'
why is the exhaust slot so small?
It's actually bigger than previous iterations. The midrange card isn't going to need much venting anyway.
eyespeed
Dynamic stepping likely.
Grr, I just want them to release it so I can buy another 5850.
why is the exhaust slot so small?
Since it's not a gtx 480
Better come out before November when I get my new computer.
I have it on good authority Oct 18 takes place sometime before November.
Might buy it, my 8800 is developing an annoying fan noise.
So much shit leaking. I reckon we all know that it's just a bunch of PR stunts.
Goddamn I'm behind with my meager 4670 :saddowns:
^ It's funny because I upgraded from that. (Should probably get a new PSU and a working HDD before I upgrade anymore :v:)
I have it on good authority Oct 18 takes place sometime November.
Oops I thought that was the press date. Well that's fast.
I'll stick with my 5870 for now. Seems like the GPU's are moving forward too fast. Heck, I probably should have skipped upgrading from my 4890 too. Games aren't even demanding enough at the moment. Well.. apart from Crysis 2 it seems.
Looks like four screens from one card on normal version. Eyefinity version = ???
Looks like four screens from one card on normal version. Eyefinity version = ???
2 of these: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-142-SA :v:
2 of these: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-142-SA :v:
That would be insane. Too bad it's totally pointless to anyone other than stock traders, people who monitor networks, or medical. General public would want it for gaming... and the middle of the screens is bezels making it impossible to aim or whatever.
Come on 5*** pricedrops
http://www.techpowerup.com/132459/AMD-Rebranding-HD-5770-and-HD-5750-to-HD-6700-Series.html
AMD Rebranding HD 5770 and HD 5750 to HD 6700 Series Earlier today, we were treated to the first picture of the Radeon HD 6870, a new and upcoming performance graphics card from AMD. It was also learned that the HD 6870 is based on a new GPU codenamed "Barts", which is intended to be a successor to the previous-generation "Juniper" GPU, which was at the center of the Radeon HD 5700 desktop and Mobility HD 5800 series. That left some uncertainty as to what GPU was going to drive the sub-$199 HD 6700 series. AMD may have found an answer, rebranding. AMD seems to have been on the crossroads of which naming scheme to adopt. The first scheme based on conventional logic tells users that Barts-based SKUs should sit in the HD 6700 series, and Cayman-based single-GPU SKUs in the HD 6800; while the second scheme promotes Barts to the HD 6800 series, and Cayman to the HD 6900 series, pushing the low-volume, high-end Antilles (dual-Cayman) graphics card to the HD 6990 SKU. Evidently, AMD chose the newer, second scheme. The only rationale that makes sense is that the x800 series seems to be very popular, and if Barts, with its radically redesigned SIMD components can perform on par or better than the HD 5800 series SKUs, that's enough to justify its upwards push. Since the new performance SKU will be labeled HD 6800 series, that leaves some vacuum with the HD 6700 series. The solution to this came in the form of a perceptually bad practice of rebranding Juniper-based SKUs to HD 6700 series. There is a possibility of AMD stepping up clock speeds, or adding software features to the HD 6700 series, but that's as far as we can see the Juniper going. "Turks" and "Caicos" are new GPUs, that trail behind in the HD 6600, HD 6500, and HD 6400 Series, respectively.
Whaaaat.
Goddamn I'm behind with my meager 4670 :saddowns:
lucky you I've got a downclocked hd 4650 1gb gddr2
I'm still pissed at AMD for renaming ATi, even though it doesn't affect anything AMD just wants attention :saddowns:
That looks extremely generic
Still looks pretty good IMO
AMD Rebranding HD 5770 and HD 5750 to HD 6700 Series
:colbert: ATi, I am dissapointed.
