Man that looks buggy. But maybe that's what made the mod so fun?
The term "bleeding edge" always bothers me for some reason. It's "cutting edge", dammit.
Looks like DayZ as I knew it. Looking past the bugs that are there now, I see a lot of improvement. I'm not sure how necessary vehicle customization will be, and I'd rather have them implement the old vehicles and replace them over time, rather than what they want to do now which is not implement any vehicles until the new ones are done. Either way I'll be picking up the early alpha.

Couldn't they have used a better engine like cry engine?
i dont like the anims...neither the cam view or the hud. But i still want the game [editline]12th June 2013[/editline]
Couldn't they have used a better engine like cry engine?
they are going to use another developers engine out of nowhere, already having their own?
Zombie movement is still absolutely horrible. Its the only thing putting me off the game. You would think it would have been pretty high priority
I loathe how walking up and down stairs is handled. It looks incredibly bad that you can go from an all-out sprint to a chill-walk up a flight of stairs and then resume the all-out sprint, both within nanoseconds. There's no feel to that animation whatsoever.
They should just go for gamebryo obviously
Couldn't they have used a better engine like cry engine?
Yeah, better engine for sure. Maybe they should have asked Activision if they could borrow their engine, that way we could have high definition zombie dogs. [sp] What's wrong with ARMA engine ? [/sp]
Yeah, better engine for sure. Maybe they should have asked Activision if they could borrow their engine, that way we could have high definition zombie dogs. [sp] What's wrong with ARMA engine ? [/sp]
Activision? CryEngine is developed and published by Crytek themselves.
If they're adding a surrender animation they should allow you to take loot off live bodies, not just backpacks.
Man that looks buggy. But maybe that's what made the mod so fun?
It's not even in the public alpha yet, compared to the mod this is vastly better. It's not so much the features they've been working on, more the underlying modifications to the engine such as the updated pathfinding.
I believe it looks buggy mainly because zombie attacks inflict damage on attack animation start rather than having attack point/backswing time.
They had really hope their gamble pays off.
Man that looks buggy. But maybe that's what made the mod so fun?
I found it to be the worst fucking part of it.
That looks absolutely awful.
I love it. It's buggy and clippy and doesn't work well, this is exactly what I want to see, instead of some orchestrated AI-less thing. Obviously this wouldn't make it into any big screen, but one of the best parts about DayZ is how transparent development is. Digging that fence hop. And the inventory system.
I don't know, I have this feeling, that by the time the standalone comes out, nobody will care about DayZ anymore.
Looks like they at least tightened up the movement a little.
LOL teleporting zombies and bugs? Who cares when you can have MOTORCYCLE HELMETS! Yeah... no thanks. The fact that those mechanics were shown in an E3 video is just embarrassing.
I don't know, I have this feeling, that by the time the standalone comes out, nobody will care about DayZ anymore.
that would be even better. less hackers and newbies. i don't think people will stop caring soon, though. combined operations is still on the top sellers list on steam, and there are several thousand servers online all the time. people are still playing it a lot, and you will be able to buy it next month. The fact that those mechanics were shown in an E3 video is just embarrassing.
let's have scripted and pre-rendered videos instead! they're open about what stage of development they're in, instead of trying to give off an impression of polish that doesn't reflect reality. what exactly is wrong with it?
Man that looks buggy. But maybe that's what made the mod so fun?
I'm not really surprised its buggy at this point considering the major fundamental changes they are doing. Alongside the cheaters, the bugs were what ruined the mod for me. They were so frustrating sometimes (Vehicles/tents disappearing, dying randomly, gear vanishing etc) As its stands, SA will look good to anyone who enjoyed DayZ purely by the fact that it looks like it plays so much better than the mod. To others it might not look great, but its just something you have to play to find out if you either love or you hate it.
That looks absolutely awful.
.
The term "bleeding edge" always bothers me for some reason. It's "cutting edge", dammit.
just a silly term made up just like cutting edge was
LOL teleporting zombies and bugs? Who cares when you can have MOTORCYCLE HELMETS! Yeah... no thanks. The fact that those mechanics were shown in an E3 video is just embarrassing.
Yeah let's have a scripted demo that's explicitly made for E3, but we can't get enough time to finish it so it still crashes and freezes and people notice how we haven't even added proper AI yet. That'll please the press.
I see improvements, but I also still see all the original engine problems that made the game too frustrating to play in the first place.
The term "bleeding edge" always bothers me for some reason. It's "cutting edge", dammit.
Thank you for clarifying that for me, I had never fucking heard that said that way. I'm being serious, here.
